Did a detailed surgery of my Liana today. I had brought a brand new thermostat and ECT sensor which I needed to install. But in order to get to the thermostat housing, I had to pull off the entire intake manifold. So I took the opportunity of cleaning it as well.
Here's what I did:
Took the fuel injector rail off
Disconnected all connectors attached to the intake manifold
Pulled off all the pipes that were connecting air intake manifold to the engine and other areas
 Drained the radiator completely
Covered the generator with a plastic sheet and then opened the thermostat housing
 Installed the thermostat
Pulled the inflow and outflow heater core pipes from the firewall and connected outflow to the tap with a long pipe. Redirected the inflow to the ground using another piece of pipe and opened the tap. Clean water ran through the heater core for around 30 seconds before I turned the tap off
Cleaned the hell out of air intake manifold along with throttle body. Took out almost a spoon full of gunk and dirt from inside and finally dried with a power blower
Scrapped off the remains of old gasket and put a new gasket for air intake manifold as well as throttle body
Installed the air intake manifold back on the engine along with throttle body
Installed the brand new ECT sensor
Connected the heater core pipes back firmly and then filled it up with ZIC SuperA anti-freeze (pre-mixed)
Pulled off the overflow bottle and washed with hot water and soap until there was not a spot of dirt or gunk remaining inside
Filled the radiator slowly with coolant and then the overflow bottle.
Then washed the fuel injector rail along with each fuel injector individually with carburetor cleaner. Also installed brand new pipes for power steering bucket.
Then installed them back followed by a thorough cleaning of the engine with a tooth brush and vacuum cleaner.
Then started the engine car started up and she started beautifully with a stable idle.
Needle steadily rose to half way mark and as soon as it was there, the fan kicked in (YES! AUTOMATIC!!!)
I still have to bleed the air out of my cooling system since I suspect there is some air inside. Will do it tomorrow as I'm too tired now
