i feel we are missing the point here. see in comparison the cars available in the same category regardless of the fact of poor resale, Liana as a Car is complete success. rather only successful car produced by Pak Suzuki. and if anyone thinks that resale should be the criteria than think again on that criteria mehran beats every other car and that halirious.

Sorry to hear about the problem with your friend's liana but I have 3 liana's in my family and I own 1 myself too to date there is no problems with any 3 of them 1 is being used on petrol and the rest on gas they are doing perfectly alright, Liana and City are for 4 adults only rear seats are excellent for tall people as their head dont touch the roof and legs dont touch the front seat, the only thing I dont like about liana is expansive parts thats a real turn off now just imagine my AC bearing is making noise and have to change the bearing and tell you what its for 4500 bucks now thats a frekin expansive bearing (thoray aur paisay daal kar AC naya lagwa layta hoon )

Its a nice car I wont call it a flop as its sales are higher then Baleno and looking at the bank interest rates I think it aint a flop but its not able to compete city in sales thats a truth for sure.

and as far as xli / gli are concerned they are far better then city or liana and cannot be compared with compact sedan's of Pakistan.

@newton: i have also never said liana is a a bad car, the QC sucks big time and we have many posts in PW related to it.

As for XLI/GLI just coz they have big price tag does not mean they are better than City or Liana. All of them are equally comparable and have their pros and cons

LIANA is not a bad car. I owned one for more than a year and not faced any single problem in it. The drive on CNG (RXI-CNG) was excellent and very very economical. It was giving me Rs. 2.00/km (with AC in City). I think it is suffering due to bad quality of Mehran/Cultus.
My experience of LIANA was very good. I have sold it around 2 months ago and still regretting my decision as the car was trouble less and does not even require any tunning in year.

its good that you liana is working well but what i see is the majority are complaining and less are satisfied, why is that??? - u have to look at the overall picture

well Xli sells cause of the toyota label......and since we as a nation dont think we follow.......hence the market......
even honda does not have the corrolla re-sale..........
i have an 02 civic , and altis , a lancer and a liana 07.
the altis other than the dashboard n leather steering ABS brakes pretty much sucks!

the Civic is ok ... lancer is the best............

point is liana has a good solid body...... yes the cng system makes clicking sounds sometimes u think the engines bout to break......(sorry i honestly thought they d given me a bad car initially) but its now at 40000 Kms.....and honestly its way way better than a baleno.

When the baleno came v wanted margalla , cultus we wanted khybers, now the liana is out and we want balenos...?

ok that might be true, at least in my case it was my younger bro's liana RXI CNG and i drove it quite a lot and know about all its problems on just 5000km milage

I have one more observation about Pak Suzuki cars:

If you are getting bad reviews about Liana even from non-owners then that must be considered as well as how come we dont hear this about other cars in Pakistan??
How come Pak Suzuki is making world wide discontinued cars in Pakistan??

One thing more i want to mention here:
After selling LIANA i have purchased a City IDSI.
1. LIANA was much more stable on CNG as compared to City. Filling of CNG from different stations does not effect the performance in LIANA but this is not applicable in City case.
2. P/steering of City is better than LIANA
3. Build quality of both the cars is almost equal.
4. LIANA offered much more features than the City have.
5. Build quality of LIANA glove box was very poor.
6. The pick of LIANA was much better than City.

My conclusion: If you are a brand conscious than go for Honda City other wise enjoy more features in less price by buying SUZUKI LIANA.

my younger brother's new City doesn't have a good suspension, the ride is bumpy, pillars too large, lousy cassette player, and small/thin tyres, real lousy brakes..my Behnoi got his new City 3 days ago, same issues. In fact, these are common issues among all City's, but owners do not complain as they are happy with owning a "Honda" brand!
Because they are the best selling cars in Pakistan! and secondly, due to previous experience with latest models not being accepted by the masses eg. Cultus was initially flop, still some people prefer Khyber...similarly the transition from Margalla to Baleno to Liana has not been accepted easily....so why should they bother with introducing newer models?

so i guess our people are happy with pre-historic crap - sir jee Khyber and Margalla and very nice cars and no one has ever complained about them

Anyway coming back to City:

Cassette player - ok it sucks so spend 2 to 3 k more and get a very nice DVD player. You cannot blame this on the car
As for tyre, same case spend a few Ks and get good tyres - still this is Honda atlas not City's fault
Pillar - yes i agree it is a blind spot - cannot argue in this case
i dont see any issue with brakes - i got a steermatic which is much more powerful than IDSI and is auto and brakes are fine
Quality wise Honda is better than other pak cars
Yes suspension of Liana is better since i have driven it too

Also spend a few more bucks and get a new engine, plus upgrade the suspension....

Brakes are a known issue....my bro skidded his City and hit a bus..many similar posting on PW with similar problem:

Quality is bit better than Liana, but there is not such a big difference as perceived..

As far as Khyber and Margalla are concerned..after 8-10 years people will be saying the same for Cultus and Liana...when they are discontinued and replaced by newer models.
