Lifespan of Dunlop Eco Tyres

I replaced my Suzuki Alto's stock tyres, General XP 2000, in Feb 2016 i.e. 2 year 10 months ago. Did 45000km before two of them ruptured. I replaced them with Dunlop Eco EC201. Two of them had punctures last year which I got fixed.

Now, last week one of the tyre had a puncture at the same spot, the "puncture wala" suggested that I replace it. At the same time the tyre on the opposite side started wobbling, the puncture wala pointed out that it has gone out of shape, and today it got flat, the puncture wala said it is beyond repair.

My question how long are Dunlops supposed to last? The dealer said it is a miracle that I dragged them for 2.5+ years and further added that Dunlops (and just about any budget tyre) lasts for 1 year or so. Is that correct? Or should I go back to General XP 2000?

PS: I don't drive much... the Dunlops did only 15000km in 2yr 10 mo. I just want peace of mind for next 4-5 years.

I have bought dunlop sp touring from islamabad blue area have been using for about 3.5years and almost 60 to 70k driven now braking is weak with lot of road tyre noise... Will be going to change soon...
Basically the market is full of fake tyres and you might be victim of them​

i think you got smuggled tyres. not genuine warranty tyres.

any fresh tire, check the date stamp. manufacturing must be within few months of your buying it.

i got michelin xm1 thailand tires 3 years back. for 2 years i had no problems, then massive construction works started in karachi, meaning horrible roads, so tires started getting punctures. i replaced 02 front ones with japanese bridgestone tires few months back and they are running smoothly along with the 02 old michelins.

get a japanese tire, maxxis thailand also quite good. but get it from authorized dealer only. check the tire inside out before installing. tires must be soft to touch. indonesian made tires are quite hard.

Not sure about smuggled but they were definitely old... manufacturing date was 2014 and I bought them in 2016. The tires got punctured because there is too much debris on the road.

But the question remains: is the dealer correct that these tires are supposed to last 1-2 year even if there is no issue with bad roads. Or should I go to some other dealer.

normal life of rubber tire is 4-5 year. doesnt matter if its used on the road or stacked in the shop.

direct sunlight storage destroys tires.

your tires were already past half their life. and no idea how the tires were stored.

Sad to hear about your experience but I got Dunlop tyres 185/70 R14 for my Toyota Belta in 2017 from Japan Tyres Blue Area Islamabad, drove for over 70000km and they performed very well until few days ago I made a big mistake of over loading the rear boot with tiles that I had bought for my home and bumped inadvertently onto cat eyes on the road causing one tyre to voble. Now I have to replace them. Shared my experience for tyre care.

All tyres get deteriorate with passage of time whether you drive it or not.
Tyres starts damaging when you use wash them with for cleaning them (even in parked cars) when you use Surf or local detergents or shampoo which of course caused chemical effect with rubber.

Similarly oil,diesel and petrol fallen on roads, sewerage water(containing bleach or other chemicals and residues plus salts) of course damages plus diesel spray mixed with local chemicals also eats rubber.
