Okay... Since no one came up to answer the poster, I guess I should share my experience/observation for some understanding.
Note: No offense to any one. Alot of members do Sale/Purchase of after market alloys here. This is just my experience.
Facts First:
1-Alloys were introduced in the automotive industry to be an alternative to Steel rims for two purposes. Lighter weight and Better Styling.
2- Alloys are more prone to deformation than a steel Rim of same domestic use vehicle. (This is contrary to a false belief in the PK market that steel rims bend and Alloys would only crack, shatter on hitting hard pots. Not true).
3- With alloy wheels, the rim size can be increased (both dia and width) keeping the net unsprung suspension mass almost close to factory. This provides better traction, braking and cornering vehicle response.
Questions (Only specific to PK Market):
Why most people claim it changes the way the suspension behaves??
Ans: For some, it becomes hard, for some it becomes smooth. Since the boom of Alloy business in PK, people mostly change Rims of car that is just delivered from factory. Or they change when they install new set of tyres. Its not cost effective otherwise. Unless you are some Rich Lad. The ones with new cars dont feel much of an improvement, because most go with wider Rim/tyre combination. They would mostly claim that the steering is a bit hard than factory.
For those who install rims at the end of life of old tyres generally feel a considerable improvement. Since the old tyres had hardened over the years, almost zero tread left.
Question:
Why chinese Rims have a bad repute??
Ans. Because most of them dont offer much weight reduction. Also because people dont pay attention to rim offset and rim width during installation. They just want some fancy design. If the tyre used is same and a wider rim is used, the sidewall cushion response changes and drive feels harder.
Question:
So what are light weight alloys??
Ans: Some good brands, BBS, Enkei etc develop wheels with this specific title targeted at automotive enthusiasts for improvement over stock rims in terms of handling and styling as well. Less mass with more body weight handling capability makes them a good choice as an aftermarket upgrade
Question:
SO what are the best replacement for Domestic cars.
Ans: This one's truely my opinion: Only the OEM Alloy rims supplied by the manufacturer. Thats the same reason they have a high demand in market. Be it Civic Oriel, Altis, Swift DLX, Cultus VXL, City Steermatic and the newly introduced City Aspire ones. They are provided keeping in view the suspension design of the vehicle and I personally recommend them as a replacement rather and Chinese/Korean brand out there.
