******* Looking for Hilux 4x4 *******

OK here's a chance for all of you to help me (till the next auction).

I'm thinking about going for a 4x4 5th generation Toyota Hilux (1979-1983), papers should be clear and ideally registered in RWP or unregistered (auction vehicle). parts MUST be complete but it doens't matter what state the engine is as it's most likely going to be swapped.

I'm also open to the 6th gen (1984-1988), or 7th gen (1989 1997) if the price is right. i look forward to help from you all specially IJC.

I know i'm asking alot as these vehicles are older than most of you but please, help! pics would be HIGHLY appreciated.

seems everyone is busy spotting and ricing up their cars.....

Well from the past few months, pakwheels has changed completely. Now all u could see here are people selling bumpers and meters. And as usual demanding way more for their cars than they acutally are.
But i wish you could find the car. By the way would a car from karachi fulfil ur purpose coz i think i know someone who has this car.

i know what you mean. i miss the old pakwheels where everyone was there to help each other out. what bugs me more than anything else is that i have helped countless members and now nobody is going to help me.

perhaps i should stop helping everyone till someone finds me a hilux:)

as for the KHI vehicle, i have a few at my KHI office as field cars but i'm trying to get a locally registered car so i don't have issues with transfering it and paying tokens etc.

thanks for the positive feedback buddy. just pray i find what i'm looking for, the trip i had with the IJC (islamabad jeep club) has driven me nuts,.. i HAVE to offroad again!

aah a stripped out hilux.. i still remember my dads.. a 6th gen hilux it was.. i wish i cud show u the pix.. if only i dint have a broken scanner.. ill borrow 1 from someone and post the pix here.. a crazy a$$ 4x4 that was.. but then dad went on to sell it off.. i wish i had it now :(.. seriously this is THE project car if someones working under a budget because the car has ALOT of potential of offrading.. and the potential to put a smile on the driver's face even when my dads upside down :P.. if u interested in a KHI regd car lemme know i have loads with friends.. family.. lemme know bro if i can be of ne kinda help..

was thinking of fitting a 5VZ-FE iitially but now have decided for a more economical unit so i guess it'll be a diesel,... which comes with a massage function (MASSIVE vibrations)

as you know i had a defender before, and i used to take it offroading every saturday & sunday,.. the fire has been relit!

realistically they can start from as low as 50-75000 for a beaten up one since they are so old & have no value in PK, but a decent one should be approx 1.5 - 2lacks even now if it is in MINT condition.

none are PW members but ill do summtin and post pix of my dads ex-ride and my friends rides.. as for the engine.. id say if for heavy offroading.. id stick with a diesel..i dunno i jus never liked the "heavy offroading+petrol" equation.. i dunno i mite be dumb.. but hey its just me :P.. gimme a day or 2 ill post teh stuff..

The 5VZ-FE is a great engine. Loads of peeps have supercharged 5VZ-FEs in their Tacoma's in North America. I used to have a friend in Phoenix who had a 5VZ-FE in his MR2, believe it or not.. its also a common swap with 4x4 freaks who have got those mid 80's shape 4Runners. Question is, are there that many Prado engines lying around at a cheap price? It would surely be the PERFECT engine for the ride. What other engines are you considering? I'm assuming you'd get a beat up 2.2 diesel with the ride.. or maybe a 2.4 with a post '84 model.. not sure.

Too bad we dont get the 4.0 petrol featured in some of the current Hilux's out there (not Asian ones).

Wish you were in UK, would've found you a nice damaged one (possibly floor damage) so you can have a cheap car to start up as a project.

my alternate engine is a 1kd or 1kz but i am really enjoying playing with the idea of fitting a 5VZ and then going biturbo. obviously since this is the land of the stupid i'll neverbe able to source the right parts or get anyone to do it right so i'll limited to the diesel if i intend on being realistic.

my surf also has a 5VZ-FE which the american market never got in that shape, they got the 1GR-FE instead (the 4.0L). JDM models stuck with the 5VZ till 06 and then got the 1GR.

if i don't find a car within the timeframe i've set for myself (not to be disclosed) then this project will be shelved indefinitely and i'll move to my next one (a sand rail), so please keep your eyes open.
