Assalam O Aleikum.
I am a new member here in PakWheels Forums.
I urgently need some advice regarding the availability and pricing of Scooter Bikes in Karachi.
I intend to use the Scooter mostly for commuting to work (i am so done with the city's public transport).
This distance would be approximately 10 KM either side of the trip and office is located in the vicinity of Shahrah-e-Faisal.
I am currently aware of 2 scooters currently present in the local market, the United Scooty and the SuperPower Scooty. I am however looking for more variety, in terms of price and aesthetics.
I am also on a budget, so i can't afford anything priced above PKR 60k. At most i can stretch to 65k. I am basically looking for the best bang for the buck
Here are the few points on which i need the PakWheels community's help :
A. Where in Karachi can i find a more diverse market focused on these scooters? A place where there's some good competition among dealers, so that the prices are reasonable and competitive.
Any trusted dealers/Shops with honest prices for these Scooters ?
B. Are these Scooters in the same category as the the usual motorcycles, with regards to law ?
Are these scooters frowned upon by the law?
Do they require registration and license (asking because in some countries license/reg is not required for scooters) ?
Will i get in trouble or be stopped by the police more often if i am on a scooter than on a common bike?
C. Are these scooters durable enough to handle karachi's roads?
D. I have NEVER driven any sort of bike before. How long will it take for me to learn to drive the scooter on the city's busiest and fastest Main Roads ? ( Please note that the scooter will most probably auto or semi-auto, without a clutch )
E. Is the scooter safe for the busy and frantic traffic on Shahrah-e-Faisal ? especially during the rush hour we experience after 6-7 pm ?
F. How is the fuel economy on these scooters ? I would be driving the scooter for around 20-25 KMs 5 days a week. Any guidance with regards to finances is most appreciated.
G. How does the Locking security work on these Scooters? Is self start + ignition less secure and easily manipulated by thieves than the conventional ignition + kick-start ?
Are they more prone to being stolen than usual motorbikes ?
H. If anyone has bought one of these scooters, kindly let me know how has been your experience driving it in the City, especially for long distances.
I hope this is not an overwhelming wall of text for the veterans and experts to read. I have searched almost everywhere on the internet and this is the best place where i believe i can get some authentic and enthusiast guidance about my query.
I would be most grateful for any help by the respected PakWheels members in this regard.
Thank you.
