go for efi version, a good car in genuine paint and mileage will cost you close to 7 lacks but make sure to consider maintenance.
1. timing belt, water pump, tensioner, bearings and belts etc. replaced at 100k, ask if the seller has done this service already it will save you 8-10k
2. check for radiator leaks, cooling system on old cars are in worst condition because people use water. open the radiator car and see if there is rusty water or brown colored coolant you will need to flush out the whole system and replace the radiator according to the users manual, it is only reliable for the first 5 years but people use it until it bursts.
3. compression test all cylinders, take a mechanic with you, pay him 500-1000 to test everything once you finalise the car.
4. always check the car on a cold engine in the morning, there should be no blue smoke coming out at ignition, some smoke is okay as long as it goes away after warm up.
5. check suspension, bushings, and wheel bearings, also check the car at 100-140km/h speeds it should not vibrate or lose traction.
6. check for any electrical jugaars or relays, it indicates one or more electrical components of the car are failing and it is running on borrowed time. you can also check the car battery voltage before starting the car it should be 12.4-12.7 volts and 14.6-14.8V after starting (check before starting the car) if the battery voltage is lower than 12.2V that means 1. alternator is almost dead, another way to confirm is to turn on all components i.e: ac headlights blinkers dome light audio system and fan on maximum setting, the car voltage should be above 13V
7. If the owner doesn't have maintenance history ask them anything they remember like replacing o-rings, fuel filters etc. expect to replace a lot of small parts later on according to the manual.
8. replace all fuses and relays afterwards, if all relays are genuine and working just replace the fuses.
