Looking to get into rallying

AoA,

I was wondering what car would be recommended for people interested participating in local rallies but do not have an exquisite budget to go out and get a Hilux. Would probably prefer to find a car under 15 Lacs, also what is the process of getting a roll cage installed?

I've also noted that even though these rallies are highly popular, there exists virtually no documentation about it online. So it's hard to get into this hobby.

I will suggest u to purchase a toyota surf 1995-2001 model
And diesel 1kzt intercooler variant.

Rough and tough and parts availability is also easy.
Maintenance is also not heavy on pocket.

Furthermore u can use it as daily driven and for long routes and offroading aswell

Bro which decent surf of the aforementioned model can be procured in 1.5 million? Also offroading and rallying are 2 totally different fields. In case OP wants a rally vehicle in 1.5 million budget, he can manage a Jimny at the most. Proper rally suspension alone is atleast 200k plus. He can slowly bring it upto specs. The one and only rally champ having experience in nearly all categories of rally especially Jimny is Qasim Saidhi in Lahore. He started with Jimnys. Best to contact him. Also please note that the coffin shape surf of 90s era turns turtle at the turn of a wheel, you just need to give it the signal and it will roll over like a well trained puppy.

Thanks for the reply, a Jimny/Potohar seems perfect for my project, and as you mentioned I would prefer to upgrade it along the way as budget allows. Are rally teams still using Jimnys or are they phased out in favor of something more powerful, or do separate classes exist for these type of vehicles? Also how bad are the maintenance costs and rally parts availability?

I would want the vehicle to have some of stability and not roll over if I have an excursion, as I would be a complete novice going into rallying or off-road driving in general.

It's been a childhood dream of mine to get into motorsports, I've only been able to do simracing, as there are no proper racetracks here in Pakistan.
