Lost File & Book of Punjab Registered Car .. what are my options?

Unfortunately, as the title above states, I have lost the complete original file as well as the computerized registration book of my Punjab-registered vehicle.

I only have the smart card with me.

What are my options now?

1. Do I apply for duplicate file and book? If yes, from where and how? What will be the cost and time taken for this?
2. How much value does my car lose in this case?
3. Can I sell the car as is?

   you can apply for a duplicate book at excise and taxation office
   no idea about the cost but I think you can call a UAN number for this info

Excise and Taxation Department, Punjab, and, in case the vehicle was locally assembled, the company from where you bought the vehicle, showroom, etc. (Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, etc.) can guide you best in this regard.

You need to visit these 02 places in-person to get best results. Consultation via email, phone, etc. may not suffice.

Depends on vehicle, but usually, it is min. 1~1.5 lac PKR.

Can I sell the car as is?

YES. It can be sold, as it all depends on the potential buyer, that whether he / she is interested in buying such a car.

But main issue may be transfer of ownership, and the price, which the potential buyer will be offering you. May be, you agree to the offer. may be, you disagree. All depends on the parties involved.

Forget everything else. First go to your local Police Station and get an FIR registered for the lost documents. These papers can be misused (God forbid). Don't take this situation casually.

Further, you shall be needing this FIR when applying for a duplicate copy of file from concerned ETO.

A sincere piece of advice; don't try to sell this car without duplicate documents issued first. The buyer shall try to take unfair advantage and wouldn't offer you even half the market value of your car.
