Low average of corolla gli 2012

I am using my car with 20w-50 havoline oil and my car is giving me average of 7-8kmpl in city which is not economical for me i have recently changed spark plugs and did all the necessary maintenance which required but i am having very bad fuel economy and one more thing my average calculating meter doesnt work, any solution.

How much ur car is driven? Wat tire size r u using? U can switch to 10w40 and nd expect slight improvement.

20w50 is not a recommended oil grade for ur car ... Pls stay away from it

Switch to 10w30 oil, u have option of caltex oil, and run a tissue paper inside the exhaust tip bottom area, if light brown color, engine is in gud condition, if dark black soot, running rich /oil consumption,

Ever cleaned its catalytic converter?
Even with 20w50 this car gives 11-12km/l within city and 14+ km/l on long. How much kms do you get in full fuel tank?

if you feel that your car is drinking excessive fuel then in this situation, you should probably conduct a fuel test of your car. If you can't figure out the actual problem after that then you should do a test by yourself. as a rule of thumb, you should take the official combined-cycle fuel number and add about 30%. That's what your car is actually likely to consume. If you are a normal driver more or less.

Not the right oil grade for your car, I have seen cars with even 150,000 kms driven and still using 5w30 Engine oil grade and still going strong. I believe that you have been using this oil grade for a long now, so it's not safe to at least switch it to oil grade 5w30 now because it is most likely possible that your Engine will start consuming Engine oil.

So, I suggest you two things now:

1. Get the condition of your car's Engine checked from some reliable mechanic and if overall, it's okay, then I suggest switching the oil grade from 20w50 to 10w30 now using the flushing method to be on the safe side.

2. Get the catalytic converter of your car checked from a reliable mechanic and if it's choked because of the bad quality of fuel used, get it cleaned with the proper Catalytic converter cleaning fluid, and not by the traditional 'TEZAAB' cleaning method.

Thanks for all your support i will be getting my car for oil change this week and will be adding 10w-30 as you all recommended, getting throttle body and catalytic converter cleaned

But one more issue i am facing in my car is that my meter doesnt show my current average and range is there any fuse for that?

I am sorry to know that you are feeling a little bit irritated due to not the economical use of fuel in your car. Though you have done necessary maintenance but still not getting the required results. Also, you have an issue with your car meter.
The car meter will be repaired by an expert mechanic, please consult an experienced one. As far as unnecessary fuel consumption is concerned, take some measures like park your car in a cool place, avoid overloading, slow down your speed, don't apply brakes until necessary, and use some good quality fuel.
