Aslam-o-Alaikum and Eid Mubark everyone.
One week ago my brother was coming back from Islamabad to Lahore on motorway on my Swift 2011 1.3DX manual. He noticed that the temperature needle is rising so he turned off the AC and slow down the speed to 80 and on Chakri rest area get it checked by the mechanic.
So.. mechanic inspected and found that the radiator was chocked with rust and the pipe was blown and gaskit was done. He installed a new gaskit and added new engine oil in the engine. After that temperature didn't raise. And he adjusted the clutch (made it loose).
Next day the car was at rest and after another day I took my car for a ride and noticed that engine check light was showing up all the time, the pick was disturbed and car was vibrating while releasing the clutch and there was some unexpected noise.
I thought engine oil could be the issue, I took it to the Shell pump. I use Shell 10W-40. The mechanic there checked the oil and found that oil level and condition is fine and we don't need to replace it. I don't know which oil was add by the mechanic at motorway.
So I headed to my mechanic as the check light was showing and I felt that the pick of my swift is not as same as it should be. He took a test drive and agreed that there is something fishy. My brake pads were also making noise so I asked him to replace them as well.
My mechanic changed brake pads, i asked him to replace with original swift pairs. And checked with scanner and found cooling fan was causing the engine light. He fixed it and for pick issue he observed that the Catalytic converter was missing inside the catalytic body. He said ( Kisi ne cat nikal li hy). He cleaned the oxygen sensor and put it back. And suggested to get a new catalytic.
I got it checked it on Monday and we got Eid holidays. I noticed that my cars average is dropped to 8km/L and that without AC. On Eid I was dropping meat packets and there was some smell of blood and I drove my car with open windows and didn't use AC still 8km/l.
I use to have 15 on motorway with AC and 12,13 in city. But I'm so much disappointed with this incident. Now my questions are and what are your thoughts?
- Should I go to Suzuki and get it scanned or from any other workshop
- Should it be due to new brake pads as brake disc was having scratches and disk was buffed with tool.
- Should it be cat issue in real? Should I get catalytic converter cleaned?
It would be appreciated if you guys could guide me better. Don't want to get stuck with wrong people.
