Hi everyone. This is my first post on the forum. I am not well versed cars so please bare with my inadequate knowledge.
I bought my prius 2012 back in 2015 december so it is a year old with me. It was already driven about 100000 km and is now upto 150000. During the first 6 months, its fuel consumption was awesome. I was getting at least 24 in the city. I maintain my cars engine well and get a monthly or 45 day check up from Toyota on GT road, Rawalpindi near Bahria ph7. I was usually using pao fuel for my car but have recently shifted to shell and now only use vpower.
For the past 5 months, my fuel consumption per kilometer has increased. My average of 24 first came down to 20. I got my oil and plugs changed, got the car overhauled and though this woukd fix it. This was about 4 months back. Then i was told to swith from pao to shell. Later i shifted to hi octane and used only the 5-sarki fuel station (people from Islamabad and Rawalpindi would know). This didnt change anyghing at all. In fact it came down to 18 and stayed there for 3 months. I recently had it checked up by a third party mechanic. He says that the converter from battery to petrol is weak. Not sure what that means. He said he fixed it for now but it will go back to being frail in a couple of months. Now, my cars average is 17 or lower if i driven on a higher throttle. Just so you know, my plugs and oil is new and the car ia otherwise very good. There are no issues whatsoever.
Can anyone out there help in figuring out how I can fix this. Is there a mechanic that I can expect to fix this problem for me? Would really appreciate your support.
