I have Honda City 2020 and registered in 2021.
Total mileage is 46K, I purchased it recently and now I am bit confused if I should use engine oil grade 10w 40 or 10 w 30.

Also, which company engine oil will be good for it ?

Recently bought a Toyota GLI 2010 manual (2NZFE 1.3L) with odo of 225000km from a friend. He says that Toyota service centre used Petron 20w50.
The engine is at 3600rpm at 120kmph, 4000rpm at 130kmph. I'm getting mileage of 13km/L with AC on motorway at 130kmph. At 120kmph the meter shows 14km/L.
Transmission oil has never been changed. It sounds loud but friends say corolla aisa hi hota hai. Car climbed up to thandiani without any issue.

After reading this thread, I have decided to shift to lower thickness oil. Everyone is suggesting 5w30 even though peshawar's weather is not that cold. Why are people still suggesting 5w30 instead of 10w30?
1. Which one should I go for? What specific oil is suggested?
2. Should I also change transmission oil ya wo ulta nuqsan karega?

Please don't, it will start reducing oil. If you really insist 10w-40 is to be tryed first

You should gradually go down to 5w30. Like first go to 10w40 then 10w30 then 5w30.
Check oil consumption very closely on each stage

10w30 mein I guess toyat petron plus bhi aata hai. Should I go for that or any other?

I bought vitz 2013 72k km driven some time back ... I changed the oil to zic 5w20 without knowing the previous grade ... As a result my fuel average dropped from 12 to 10km/l ... Its been 5k kms now and again time for oil change ...What oil grade do i use ? ... There has been no oil consumption on 5w20 which indicates engine health is a 100% .... Also pls describe what could be the issue... The oil i bought was from authorised dealer

You can use 5w30, 5w40 or 10w40 of any reputed brand

Stick to 5w20 , try to use genuine oil and air filter Toyota. Pour quality fuel and make a trip for some miles on highway.

5w-20 is not the recommended grade for vitz 1kr fe. ideally it should be 0w-20. preferably you should always use 5w-30 fully synthetic and keep an eye on the oil level since these engines reduce oil as a design thing.

I dont think 5w20 or 0w20 matters as the first digit is cold rating ... It would work just fine even if i use sae20 in my opinion.. i do keep an eye on oil level

No dear. the logic of choosing the oil grade is that you can always exceed the recommended range but cannot reduce the range. like in case of 0w-20, you can have 0w-30 but cannot use 5w-20.

i have put 5w-20 myself and faced severe knocking and power loss in my vitz. never went back to it.

i eventually switched and settled for toyotal taglon 5w-50 api sn fully synthetic. my car returns 13 kmpl and work perfectly fine with minimal reduction over time.

my car is orignally 1300 cc 2SZFE
