Incorrect. These oils are API certified.

Majority of mobil oils aren't api certified. Mobil 1 5w50 and 0w40 available in Pakistan ain't have the so called donut.

Still its bad. People have tested ron numbers from different stations here on Pakwheels. @usman1texh should better comment on fuel quality in Pakistan.

Mobil1 oils available worldwide are API certified. Pakistan of course is unique in the world and has its own ways of doing most things. What can I say?

There are high mileage oils of Mobil 1 available in US without api donut..mobil1 coming in Pakistan is singapore made. Your whole point on amsoil was donut based.

Yes, and all Mobil1 varieties here have the donut. Plenty of donuts everywhere - except AMSOil. No donuts for AMSOil, sadly.

You see, my interests are not tied in with selling any product. I care only for the truth, unlike many here. Please carry on as you wish, I am out. Mobil1 remains API certified and that is good enough for me. AMSOil is not API certified and that may be good enough for others. You are free to peddle whatever snake oil you wish. That is not my problem.

Api/ilsac starburst is missing. Now go read on what that is.

E.g. you wont find the ilsac starburst on any fleet oil or heavy duty oil.

But will surely find the donut.

Thank you for sharing the pics, however, again 02 issues are there:

1. I could not find API service Donut and seal on it.

2. Regarding drain intervals, it has been clearly written to only go for longer drain intervals, if recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.

All oil brands says the same whether they are certified or not.

I would disagree. All brands do not claim such things.

API Service Donut / seal a.k.a. Thappa can not, in fact never, be placed on any oil packet, unless / until it is fully certified. If companies start doing so, they will surely face heavy fines, penalties, and legal issues, etc.

In my opinion and as per logic, bad quality of fuel has to do something with the choking of Catalytic Converter, not the engine oil, as exhaust gases from the engine block / choke Catalytic Converter.

Engine oil never comes in contact with catalytic converter, unless / until seals, rings, pistons, etc. are worn out, engine oil gets burnt and via exhaust gases, it comes in contact with Catalytic Converter.

During normal conditions, and when engine is absolutely healthy, seals, rings and pistons are strong, engine oil max. reaches up to the rings, installed with pistons, and it never comes in combustion chamber.

Drained shell helix ultra 5w40 at 1500kms coz it gave crappy coldstarts, lound engine noises, whinning/whistling at 4000rpm.

This is not the recommended engine oil grade for your car. In fact, I have barely seen 5w-40 recommended by Toyota for its engines. Toyota mostly recommends 0w-16 (in some latest engines), 0w-20, 5w-30, and 10w-30 at max. To conclude, 2nd digit is 30 at max. not 40.

[I once poured 5w-40 in FAW V2, and it wasn't a good experience either (FAW V2 is based on 1300 cc Vitz, 1st gen.)]

Silent engine does not mean a healthy engine. It can also mean that its struggling to overcome thick viscosity of engine oil.

yep. car will be happy on cheap 10w30 mineral oil, compared to 5w40 synthetic....

Yes, fully synthetic should be the best and first choice, but instead of short (or long) drain intervals, one should follow the drain interval recommended by the OEM, and I think, OEM recommends drain intervals based on size and type of engine, and its oil sump.

As far as I know, and this can be because, Honda does not have its blending plant here, and they are not engine oil manufacturers here either. Honda genuine oil 0w-20 and 5w-30 is the same as Total Quartz 9000 Future series 0w-20 and 5w-30.

Of course, Total Quartz 9000 Future series 0w-20 and 5w-30 are great engine oils.

I haven't seen anyone complain ever and have been a long time user myself too

honda genuine oils.. I'm using honda oil in my daily runner and changing at 5000 km. The performance remains same throughout.
