Guard filters are perfectly fine. Pretty sure that the latest air filter replacement I have heard of was like 10k km. Given our climate you would have the most optimum performance for every 5k km changes. It won't kill the engine if you replace them every 30k km or so but it allows for the best performance

I bought my Alto 660cc 2023 2 months back & i didn't know it engine oil capacity is 2.7L. the mechanic changed the engine oil & filled complete 3L.
Is it Ok having 300ml extra oil ?

Have been reading and find your debates interesting.
The problem people have is that mostly their operating manuals mention OCIs w.r.t Semi Synthetics and they are using synthetics. Apart, almost all oils do mention their Group III base lubricants as fully synthetic; whereas truly it is Group IV PAO that is considered fully synthetic.
There is some more to it as well.
The global companies Shell, Total, Caltex have a bit different products here in the Pakistani market; typically with lesser certifications. See Havoline Pro DS Eco Fully Synthetic SAE 5W 30. Go the data sheets, and you will notice that the product designated for Asia Pacific (Pakistan and others) region has different base stocks (different CAS Nos.) than the one being marketed and sold elsewhere. They similarly have different dexos licenses for each product as well. That gets to the idea that probably no Group IV is being used here - as no oil refinery in Pakistan is able to produce Group IV refined stocks. They would probably need to import Group IV base stocks; Why not import the finished product itself?
I simply questioned an official distributor of Shell as to why can't she offer me Rotella here - while she insisted that Rimula is the best product out there.
A Caltex distributor walked out of my office when I asked for Delo 400 Multi Grade, and not Delo Gold.

The API listed blending plants (companies) of Pakistan are only PSO, MAL (Mobil Askari), and Hi Tech (ZIC).
Shell, Total, and Caltex blending units in Pakistan are not API approved; but they claim that they blend the products which are API approved (ofcourse in some other region, say UAE). This does not mean that their products are bad, but be sure that they are being manufactured under license of some other region.
The fake oils market is not only for cars; have caught a case of fake machinery lubricants (imported from China)

I have toyota Corolla Altis 1.8 2010 model.
Currently I am running it on LiquiMoly 10w-40 MoS2. The car is driven 144000 km
I have changed the oil on 140000 km
Now should i change the oil after 5000 km or should run it to 10000 km
One thing more to add
I have changed the engine oil in september and this 5000 km will be achived in March or April

Use it for 8000km atleast, make sure to use geniune filter with these high quality oils, Nothing will happen if you'll stretch to 10000km too but only with quality filter.

No need to drain the before 12 months ( even 2 years wont hurt if the car is running frequently and on optimum temperature)

Toyota Grande 1.8 CVT (2023) – 5,000 KM ODO

I have a Toyota Grande 1.8 CVT (2023) with 5,000 KM on the odometer. The engine requires around 4L of oil, but Toyota dealerships insist on selling two cans (3L + 1L), making it expensive, especially when factoring in the oil filter. They also recommend an oil change every 3 months or 5,000 KM.

However, I don’t live in Karachi, and my car is only driven 2–3 times a week, covering less than 50 KM per week. Given my limited usage, spending PKR 22,000 every 3 months feels excessive.

Questions:

1. Extended Oil Change Interval:
   • Is there an engine oil suitable for my car that can last at least 6 months, considering my occasional use?

2. Oil Recommendation for Grande:

   • What is the best engine oil for my 2023 Toyota Grande that comes in a single 4L pack instead of separate bottles?
   • Is Guard oil filter a good option, or do you recommend a better alternative?

3. Oil Recommendation for Suzuki Alto (2022, Automatic, 15,000 KM ODO):

   • What is the best oil brand for this model in Pakistan?

Guard filters are great! I would even suggest you to just ditch their maintenance schedule on oil and just change your oil from Guard (if convenient). Should cost around 6k for an oil change, and should probably change your oil only once a year (or driven up to 5000km). 6 months would be playing it super safe and 3 months is just a money grabbing technique.

You may extend the oil change interval, given your usage routine. However, i would strongly recommend to stick with 3S dealers for oil and filter change as fakery / sale of cleaned used Oils and Oil filters is rampant in the market. Savings of a few thousands can cost you millions in the the not so distant future.

You may also want to give your Car Manual's Engine oil section a detailed read where it explains the conditions / environment of use for oil change intervals.

Corolla 1.8L takes about 4.2 / 4.1 liters of engine oil.

Toyota dealerships have Corolla size oil cans else they would always go for 4 + 1 and you can use the extra 1L on other oil changes too.

4L is a very common size easily avalible in all brands.

Guard filters are equally good.

Give that you car is driven so less, 6 to 8 months is an ideal change interval, If you car keeps standing or is started / Driven on weekly basis 6 to 8 months is okayish.
