Dear all
This is with reference to my previous post, link at the end, where, I had mentioned that I'm traveling to RYK from Islamabad without any stay, and requested help from fellows.
Well, we had to stay at Faisalabad, so the journey was broken down to two steps. I would like to share my experience of driving around 850 Km long distance on my Honda City 1.3 MT.
Before embarking, I had done following things, not as preventive measure, but because they were due
1. Changed the spark plugs and got NGK original
2. Bled the old clutch fluid and put genuine Honda dot 3 fluid
3. Cleaned the throttle body and allied sensors
4. Serviced the brakes
5. Got new Honda genuine air filter
With these necessary jobs, we embarked with four adults and three kids, with trunk full of luggage.
Since, we were staying over night at Faisalabad, so, to check fuel avg, I decided to go near 85-90 until Faisalabad. Got the tank filled at Attock expressway until autofill. We reached Faisalabad after 4 hrs with a stay of 25/30 mins at Sial interchange.
The next day, the tank was again filled until autofill at Arsh Total-Parco near M3 Faisalabad. The vehicle consumed 19L and covered 341 km yielding 19 km/L avg. On board avg at odo was 20.3 km/L.
Our destination was RYK, 495 km from Faisalabad. Here, due to unavailability of good quality petrol at M4/M5, (Although GO fuel is available at Uch interchange) I decided to keep speed at around 100-105 to cover the distance in reasonable time and also to avoid fuel exhausting. For this 495 Km section, including 25 km from RYK interchange to our home in RYK, the vehicle consumed exactly 28.3 L, yielding 17.5 km/L, with onboard value being 19.5 km/L.
I believe, the avg of car is around 18.5-19, given the fact that petrol pump meters are also tempered. If anyone drives a well maintained car at constant speed, regardless whether it is 80 or 110, would get around 19 km/L.
I would update my journey back to Islamabad, but this time at 120 km/L. I suspect that the avg will be around 14-15 for the reason that small cities have poor quality fuel.
Suggestions are welcome.
