yes, it would change the gravity, do not fill the electrolyte till the top level as indicated, just keep it little below. After one or two cycles of charging, fill the remaining electrolyte to its full level. People normally do this because after flush, they experience increase in level of electrolyte in battery but since your battery is new so you may not experience the same thing.

By the way I'm really disaapointed with Phoenix UGS build quality , Previously I used AGS GX-165 it has 1000 times better overall material and finish and it was due to my own poor maintenace which ruined it within an year , to all those who are flipping coins betwean AGS & Phoenix Please please go for AGS , Donot be fooled with so called "UPS specific", there are no visible diffrence in plate thikness and looking at the poor finishing and third class material one can imagine how good the internals would be .............

UGS 175 is specially made for use with invertor/ups. It has 21 plates/cell thicker plates...it has 135 ampers as Ags 175 has.....i consider ugs series of phoenix ...the best

After inspiring from this thread today I purchased hydrometer and check the gravity of my battries. It gives me different type of readings some cells shows 1150 some shows 1200 and some shows 1250 when battery was fully charged. Battries was originally filled by battery shop guy who uses tape water. I need you advise. What should I do now.

i have same UGS 175 battery as already told u its one month old... but i m feeling that its plates become dark from downside.... i have homeage 1001, amp rate is set at 15amp, gravity normal.... so whats the reason of this darkness..

w.slam...darkning of plates with high frequncy charger like all chinies UPs have...
other reason is high specific gravity electrolyte... actually homage ups keeps charging at slower rate to keep volt at 13.8...so battery cell plates become darker soon...but no need to worry

I am satisfied user of phoenix batteries. Even my first XP165 battery lasted 3 years with 3rd class desi ups ... Now upgraded to better ups kit and module and bought ugs 175. So far its going really well... even 3 hours of backup on 2 fans and 2-3 savers and still voltage didn't dropped less than 11.72v.
I hv heard and experienced AGS now a days is not that good as my land lord has one and its giving problems in first year of its life.

Anyways everyone has his own likes and dislikes.

Thats not good if level of electrolyte is equal but gravity is diffrent.....as ur battery is not that old...equalize the gravity ....take electrolye from cell having higher gravity and pour into cell having lowest gravity...then reverse this process ...do with all cells with hydrometer.....it will be fine

@jamalkhanjani I doubt you have original Phoenix UGS 175 as it has no screw or hole for magic eye thing found in AGS. Further @ishtiaq778 can shed light on it.

No....its risky...just equalize from electrolyte within the battery

hi guys need some help
i purchased Invrex ups 750W and using a 200Amp AGS battery since may 2014
it worked good till one year on 4 fans and 3 savers it used to give backup of 4 hours
but due to some brightness issues in rooms we had to change from savers to 48W auto tube lights 3 of them most of the time
long story short now ups only gives back up of 50 mins with lights on and 3 fans working
even without lights backup is not good around 1.5 hours max
battery was maintained with distled water never used regular water in it
and also i seen AGS are second to drop quality after excide
so can i save this battery or i switch to new one i am thinking of buying osaka 240 battery this time and i am using osaka in my car which in 2 years never gave slight trouble
need ur opinion

My volta is near to 4yr mark 195AH on Homeage 1KW 12V inverter, and friends who have AGS or Phoenix have atleast got 2 batteries in this time period, so my assumption is volta works best with inverter provided battery has good electrolyte not nali wala tezab. In my car also i have volta 50 but its been 3yrs and it is about to give up will replace it before winters.

You have 750W inverter and its not reasonable to use 240 or 200 use 175AH but the bulbs you are using are not good, buy some quality bulbs like Phillips 15W and it will give light equal to local bulb which has 30W. Then check your battery specific gravity after it is completely charged, is the charging rate adjustable? I don't think 1yr is good time to replace 200AH battery which costs 17.5k these days. You can use two 100 batteries in parallel they can bear up load better, but inverter has 750W it should have atleast 1000W, else 1500W for ideal results. Using ups on its full potential will harm the ups and battery both.

You are a lucky man ..... I heard Volta and Osaka are made by same company and Osaka is of really pathetic quality. Well my Phoenix xp 165 lasted 3 years even with the crapiest desi ups I had. And also battery went under sever abuse as it was discharged to 8 vots many times.

On the other hand Some solar guys say that Volta is better than osaka specially for solar set up but anyway I have never used any other brand so can't comment.

I got no bulbs tube lights with auto chok
And nop charge rate is not adjustable
Plus how do I check gravity

Today I carried out complete process and here are the results
charging started at 3.5 AMP and Ups stopped charging at 13.42 V
I ran two fans for 1 hour and voltage dropped to 12.04 V
Battery recharged again within 1 hour till 13.42V at 3.5 amp charging rate

So hows these stats???

charging started at 3.5 amp and ups stopped charging at 13.42 v, (check your cables for connectivity, maybe cables are loose as first stage charging on homage starts from 10 amperes).

Cross verify as at 13.42 volts is not a right cutoff, ups still may be charging the batteries but with little less amperes whereas you must be thinking that it has stopped charging. )

why did you buy this, site says that inverter is adjustable, obviously charging rate, cutoff voltages wont be adjusted. That maybe the reason and plus this can be used along with solar panels.
Charging rate and cutoff voltage is number one cause of bad electrolyte reading.

i intend to buy a 175/215 ah battery for this i have bought distilled water from a chemical shop .. 5 ltr for 100rs.

can i take a sample of water to your lab for testing ?

Dear, new model battery have a screw for installation of magic eye in future......He is right about the overall look of battery is not that impressive as ags....But battery is quite good and responsive.

Dear, u can't differentiate the thickness of plate merely by looking over it...........to get the difference..........get weight of AGS 175 and UGS 175 battery .......u will notice the difference.

U are right that the build quality plastic casing is not that impressive as AGS........AGS is much old brand. Alot of improvements have done till now.....while phoenix is newbie. But Battery performance is quite better.
