I didn't installed it, It was installed when the UPS was built. It is connected inside the ups soldered to the output.

Who said capacitor is doing 2 jobs at the same time? maybe it could but that's not what i mentioned. I just mentioned its uses. In chinese vs desi ups presence of transformer is another thing... it wont affect the need of capacitor? Have you seen LED rechargeable light's charging circuit? it also does not have transformer while some small chargers and power adapters have transformer but BOTH use capacitor as a filter in output.. Now one can not say if there is no transformer in LED circuit so it should be removed from other adapters too - lol

The reason why Ijaz and Signode were arguing I have already explained, its due to decrease load on ups when running non-inductive load else there is no harm putting it in ups. Still both were recommending putting a capacitor at output weather near fan or near ups and thats what we were telling Sherry. 30 watts is not much considering huge watt ups now a days. Its personal preference too.
I have a capacitor in ups since 4 years and it is still working fine so no need to change yearly if used good one.

I am running my mobile chargers, Wifi modem and laptop chargers on it and nothing burned in 2 years. Yes I agree that good quality transformer is priority.

Now by your point you say capacitor in series increase power so should i say by putting a bigger capacitor in series of a motor say a washing machine motor the motor will handle more clothes than before and spin more powerful since by increasing its cap. value its power is increased and now i don't need a new heavier motor?? By your statement do you agree with this?? Yes or no?

No body said its harm to use cap. but its stupid using it and putting an extra load of 30w on ups for no reason at all infact we can use an extra energy saver of 25w if that cap was not there to consume its 30w.

LED can even charge on half square wave it will be slow but they will charge with out any problem at all. Please don't mix two things that have no link at all with each other. Charging a battery is different phenomena and emmiting a noise less current is totally different lol.

The culprit is square wave (which remains square whether caps are used or not used ) and not its residual-spikes. You are breaking the stick again and again (putting useless and unnecessary caps) and not hitting the snake (correcting the square wave to pure sine wave).

Just as to speak of it, you saying a capacitor will not increase the power in one circuit but will filter it.
And in other circuit it will not filter but increase power of that circuit?

Bt wasim bhai in desi ups we cant get pure sine wave at output so they were jst saying that by adding a capacitor may be the noise will decrease.ok let me do this experiment then i will post the results over here.in our words its jst a jugar.
And nasir bhai thanks for the pic.i cant sold it inside the ups as m not that much expert but i will simply insert both the legs of capacitor in output socket and then i will put my output recieving over it.
I will also perform the other experiment by connecting the capacitor in series and will post the result too.
Plz jst confirm that both the experiments are safe w.r.t any damage causing to my ups .

You can try this.
But saying it is the proper way and is recommended is no way justified. There sine wave converter circuits worth thousands of rupees out in the market how can we just compensate them with a capacitor and get away with it. Its my duty to guide people and to let them know what is needed to be done actually rather than letting them messing with there jugaars and let them think their expensive equipments are safe now which they actually are not.

Yes bro u are right bt as i already said that my transformer is new or may be its not properly winded so jst to make it a lil bit safe i am going to make this juggar instead of spending thousands rupees.

Please don't experiment things unless you have extra money or extra equipment since it doesn't not only involve taking a solder gun and throw the cap in and it will start working just like that. I don't recommend it. Else you can try it on your own risk.
We learn from experiments.
I fried two UPS sets (baught spare ones to study them ) doing stuff on them, burnt a bi-directional motor, a water pump, and two fans - old classy capacitor-less fans lol.

I think I am not explaining in detail as I thought you might catch up.......... for filter capacitor is mostly used for frequency filtering like HPF and LPF..... there are many uses of capacitors. here we are talking about only getting a bit better voltage and removing, to some extent, noise and spikes etc......... LED circuit was just an example showing presence of capacitor in every circuit now there it is also filtering and is used in parallel for DC... in UPS circuits its used for AC..

Anyway I don't want to indulge in argument so lets not frustrate Sherry bhai as this debate is never ending ......

What I'm God's name are you doing man. I mean be careful with electronics. And stop adding capacitors in places.

Do you have a schematic of this ups circuit? Did you calculate the noise? Do you know what type of filter do u need? A high pass, low pass or a band pass? Do you know how much voltage do you need? Or is there anything already designed on the circuit which is already acting as a filter?

If you do not know the answers to these questions then surely you are at risk of damaging your appliance or hurting yourself.

Give me a day to study this whole post from where it began. I will come up with a solution.

Capacitor needs to be installed by designing a filter and if you already have a designed and prepared board, it's even harder to make changes to it. This lay out has been designed through a computer. And has proper places for everything. And those things are already installed. So don't play with it yet unless you are sure about what you are doing.

Indeed man. After reading this post I started to top hunk I should add a capacitor to my nalkas at home as they would filter water or add them to my channi to filter my tea or add capacitors instead of my cars oil filter. It's a universal filter after all.

They have a ground too in UPS output socket lol and you know the fun part? Its only on the inside of the socket LOL and they have grounded the cap wanting to make it in parallel - i guess LOL
