Both prodigy and aurora are pak cheen dosti ups n nothin else ... go for pure sinewave ups like apc .. u ll find 100 of dealers there in karachi ... 1.5 kva works with 2 batteries n shud cost u 12000 without batteries ... prodigy n aurora or homage ... these all r 3rd class upss ... our local transformer based ups r much much better than these chinese ups ... once thy get faulty thn kiss ur ups goodbye ....

They don't get faulty unless yu dont clean their exhaust fins .. my last Homage Ups was connected since 3 years without any probs .. I fried it by mynown mistake .. the apcs yu see in the market are all
refurbished expensibe crap ..

We have a disconnected UPS System with inverter and exide batteries that were used for 1 year.
We have upgraded to solar system hybrid with solid state.
I was wondering if you could help us by taking our old system and letting us get more back up by adding extra solid state batteries to existing solar system back up or possibly convert this into a standby solar UPS?
Please advise me what is the best solution.
I will appreciate any help and advise if possible.

I don't mean to crash the party here but you upgraded to Solar. And you must have a hybrid inverter (Confirm that and the wattage) . Some plates charging your dry batteries. And everything is awesome.

Yet I did not get what you want to do with the old ups?

Do you mean your old ups us lying in the store and you want to put it to use rather than selling or letting it rest in the store? Is that why you came up with this idea?

Most importantly was it repairable? How much did the dealer / repair guy ask for repair in monetary terms?

I want to run a fridge, 3 fans and 3 savors. Is this system 12V or 24v ? Can 1.5KVA take this load or would I need 2 KVA? What is the max amps the charger can charge the batteries with?

Yaar there is a lot of price variation on internet for phoenix and AGS, I will update when I hit the market.

Please tell me that a serial setup of 2x100AH 24v batteries will give same back up as a single battery of 200 AMP 12V?

The UPS I will purchase will most likely be 24V so I need to connect 2 batteries of 12V each to make it 24V now this is only possible if I go for 2x100-130AMP batteries as purchasing 2x200 batteries will cost too much and I can't afford that. My load is 1000Watt or 43Amp Hours and I need at least 2 to 3 hours backup

Ags batter tonic is just a distilled water. You cannot use it directly for the first time in empty battery alone.
First time batteries require sulphuric acid diluted to 1.25sg. It should be diluted in distilled water.

Later when electrolyte level is reduced you should just pour distilled water in it.

U can run ur tv led or lcd lights fans room cooler ... but u can't run fridge on apc ... for 3 fans n savers go for 1.5 kva which is 24 volts n chargin current ll be 10 to 15 amperes ....

Do you think the wapda lines running everywhere are proper method. Its pakistan and its desi so it works fine.
Other than ups your all appliances will fry when there is shirt circuit so what will happen if ups fries.. 1000 rs worth kit? 700rs kit? Or 2000 rs transformer?
that's the beauty of design ups that you can throw away faulty part and replace with new.

Our area has as low as 175v in summer and there is periodic fluctuations from 100 - 260 volts. You think that is state of the art wapda system?

Its working fine at stake of your money sir. Putting it that way is not a rocket science that you need an APC ups for that kind of functionality. Its merely a 500 rupees job. And you are safe from any ******** that happens in your UPS or house electrical wiring.
By the way, APC have more frying up issues than desi UPS [emoji14]
Its all about priorities, Frying a UPS or putting expensive appliances on stake is may be not a big deal for you. I would have agreed with you if there wasn't a way of avoiding such losses. No one will allow any UPS wala if he know how much danger his UPS and other appliances are just because of a mere stupidity of the UPS wala.

By the way a good transformer is worth 3.5K or around. And IC circuits worth 2500 and kit for 1050. So, you are seeing a total loss of 10K any time just because your UPS wala is stupid nerd and danm cares about it. Lol.

For fridge go fr genset instead ov ups cuz if u install 2 or 3 kva ups thn battery ll be 4 ... so ur budget ll go hi ... so its better not to use fridge for one hour of loadshedding. ...q

As per the UPS is concerned, Sadly you cannot put it to use any more except for lending it to some guy on rent or donating it to your poor friends.
I'll explain the reason with an example to keep it simple, It's like installing a CNG kit into a Prius.

I can come up with a stupid system design to design a backup for your UPS (which already is acting as a backup) to be a backup to your backup.

Although I have a good news. We can do something with the batteries.

For that I would want to know the Specs (Ah, Voltagr) of your Dry and the other battery.

Compressor surges can be 4 times the rated power consumption. 2) Compressor is an inductive load. Inductive load (anything with a motor) is not designed for modified sine-wave UPS, you need a pure sine wave UPS or else you risk damaging the appliance.

The person whom I bought from did not have any idea about configuring it. Since its a 24V design I will add 2x120AMP batteries on it. I want it to charge the batteries at 12amps and charging cut off should be 29 volts and what should be the cut off, I suppose 22 volts? How do I set these parameters?

Thanks @whiteangel I am not going for fridge backup because it is increasing the cost incredibly. I am only going for 3 savers and 3 lights and bought APC SUA 1000. Now the questions is that I am going to purchase 2x120 AMPS batteries tomorrow. The person is a AGS battery dealer and told me that AGS supplies 1250 gravity acid, should I trust AGS 1250 acid and go for it or can you let me know a more reliable source of better quality acid. I will be using AGS tonic to top up batteries later since the poster of the thread has found it to have TDS of 005.

U r very welcome. .. u purchased the ups without upgrading or wot? ... cuz without upgrading ur ups is of no use ... configuration or upgradation or software calibration is the main thing that makesur apc ups talk with ur batteries. .. kindly check with the vendor if he has upgraded the ups r not ... if not thn it wont charge ur batteries timely n as apc is micro processor based so it ll not give u ur desires backup ... setting parameters means numerous commands is to be made in ups so tht it ll give u backup with hi rating batteries. .. by default its charger is 1 to 3 amps ...
