I have noticed that my UPS starts charging the battery after 3-4 hours even battery is fully charged, means there is no main failure in this time interval. What will be the reason ? Is UPS over Charging the Battery or its normal behavior.
Am using new phoenix battery UGS 175 and Chinese brand UPS (Vortex). UPS is on inverter mode and current selection on UPS is 20Amp.

That might be a sign of defective UPS or battery as it may not be holding charge properly. If you own a voltmeter, check the readings right before the battery get's fully charged (cut-off voltage) and then noting second reading at the voltage when your UPS starts to charge it again.

But @ishtiaq778 , @talhawaleed can better guide about this as I've started experiencing this same behavior all of a sudden with my batteries as well.

Here I'm attaching a pic of the current settings on the kit. Kindly advise how to adjust Main Low variable as I messed up with it by mistake.

1) I tried to adjust the Battery Low on the above kit and the highest setting I could set was 19.65V, I can't go higher than this as the variable doesn't allow to twist any further, can only go lower. Is this normal for this Imran Brothers kit or the variable is faulty?

2) Secondly I noticed that after draining the batteries to 19.65V the battery attached to the negative terminal showed 9V whereas the battery attached to the positive terminal still showed around 11V. Is this a sign of bad battery? They are only a year old with Pyro Electrolyte in them and pyro distilled water being used for top-up since the start. And UPS tuned as per the instructions I read/got from this thread.

Batteries in question are Phoenix UGS 175, charging rate is set at 17A and cut-off is 28.20V.

Your battery has been drained. Kindly recharge and it should show 12.5 ~ 13 volts before you put this into use.

Get it charged from UPS/Battery shop you mean? Or charge it with the UPS?

The Battery Low variable doesn't allow to go higher than 19.65V only lower does it mean a faulty variable?

Should I check the battery for short cells after fully charging them or can I check them without charging?

Balance both batteries, (equalization charge) its very important in these batteries if used 2 or more in series. The equalization charge will bring both of them at the same voltage then they can be used.. Its required once every two months

You can connect both batteries in parallel. The one with higher voltage will shift charge towards one with lower this way after few hours both batteries will have equal voltage(if batteries are not dead or cell is not short) the you may use it with ups

With the existing problem, it is prefered that you get it charged from battery shop.
