This looks like fake exide tonic as it says new exide. I am using distilled water from valley water I-9 islamabad.

Good ka pata nhn. Best battery brand is AGS. Their batteries have better cell quality and more weight.

yes, i also buy from them as tested multiple times, their tds value always remains under 5.

its suppose to be either distilled or De-ionized without acid with tds value below 10. but you can see, its a fraud, as they claim that its between 0-0.5ppm but tds value turned out to be 474 ppm.

please inform me if I should ask for it to be charged and filled with distilled water correct?

second as mentioned above not connect it immediately but let it cool after bringing home.

is there any other precaution?

When the battery is new. It does NOT need any specific water. Just normal tap water is okay. As told by Abid.

When battery is dying or showing signs of low backup or overcharging too long then we have to buy or make our own distilled water. But NEVER use air conditioner water.

New batteries infact does not need water refilling for 3-6 months if good UPS. UNLESS you put too much load over the ups and battery backup finishes quickly everyday many times.

Yea cooling the battery after getting charged from battery shop is necessary. Abid told me not to tell this one but i couldn't keep it in my stomach. Because it was helpful for Abid's image that i have built here.

Buy AGS if you can. Or where u feel ok. Buy hydrometer. That will let you check the gravity of each battery cell.

That gives me an idea of which cells has less gravity and i should pour acidic AGS water and which cell has more or equal gravity and I should pour tap water.

Hy every one.

I am purchasing a new car battery and this time i want to do with Idealists approach.

I need all of yours help and suggestions to do it correctly.

There are 3 steps,
1) Choosing Battery
2) Right Electrolyte
3) Charging

Lets me tell what i am going to do for each these steps.

1) Choosing Battery
I have AGS GL85, this time i intend to buy equivalent Phoenix battery, Mainly i am following an advice to Get a battery with less plates (thicker plates). My UPS Phoenix Battery is going strong so giving this battery a chance for Car as well

Equivalent battery are of 70AH and 300+CCA, car specs mention maximum starter current of under 200A. So with these equations in mind i will chose a battery with minimum plates.

From Phoenix List, matching battery is XP88L 72AH, 13 plates
The smallest battery with L polarity is XP80L 60AH, 11 plates
IF i choose a slightly long battery then i have XP100R 70AH battery, 11 plates, but R polarity only

I think XP80L is a feasible battery. But i have no problem with AGS, Exide FB or any other brand as well if they have good repute.

2) Electrolyte
I have already ordered a 30 KG can of Pyro Battery Electrolyte. Much of it will be wasted. Any member from Lahore can take extra acid from me for his use.

I intend to keep/ hand electrolyte in pepsi bottles, plastic funnels etc. But owing to Xulfiqar sahb comment, i am thinking to buy some glass container as well.

3) Charging

I have a battery charger. i think its charge current is upto 15A.

Though i have a 2.2 ohm 10 Watt resistor available. If i use that i can slowly charge battery for a long time with small current. I think in this way current will never cross more that 1-1.5 Amps.

Also, i have in mind to let battery sit for 5-6 hours before putting it to charge.

Thats the plan gentlemen. I will highly appreciate comments by all learned members.

How to read battery manufacturing date code?

As per my knowledge, the last alphabet is machine code, the second last digit is year of manufacture.

But how to to check month?

getting AGS 200W for 17500 is it ok?

I bought AGS 200 on may 28 2017. That time market price hasn't risen. So i got it for 16000 rs. And after one month same shopkeeper said its seeling for 18000+ right now.

So you can either buy from your place in 17000+ rs or if there is any big city nearby. Ask the dealer about the price and see if you load the battery from there to ur home and if its cheaper than 17k. But keep in mind battery may damage while on road if not cared with fragility. And be sure that not all who handle will be careful all the time. Not even if you bring the battery yourself from there.

And i sold my old battery for 3050 rs. So i was lucky to get it for 12950 rs.

But AGS is good. Go for it.

Phonex have .... XP230 ..... i purchased it 3 month ago ... till written these word no any issue being happen .. charging nor backup .

i bought phoenix ugs220 for a dealer here. actually i was out of town, so i asked my brother to go and buy ugs215 model battery. but instead he brought ugs220. and he said that shopkeeper said that now phoenix prepares ugs220 instead of ugs215.
i bought it in 15000 rs.

one is the battery beccome hot
second is the timing issue
as i use 4 smds of 18w 2 fans something desktop
and its timing is just 1 hr
i purchased battery round about end of 2015

Your One battery has bad cell. You have to replace your batteries with new one. Otherwise you will get higher bill from WAPDA.
