this thread is very informative and healthy ..
i had a problem with my motorcycle battery.. one of its terminal was snapped .. so i did solder it myself was fine and had no issue used for few months .. just one day some mechanic told me to have a good tanka from a radiator wala.. hoi tankad the terminal but when few when i checked it in home the battewry was not working.. i tried charging it with a ghetto chager stup which just pumps charge into battery at 14 volts.. battery was not getting even a single micro amps of current neither was it giving any..
the open circuiot voiltage was 10..5 volts..
long and short it was placed in mu home....
today i wanted to experminent with it.. firstly i removed all the electrolyte from it into a milkpack dibba.. [clean from inside/had rinsed tjhe dibba with water..]...
[mazeed post wakfa/loadsheding ka baad]
then i tried to play with checking voltagews accross each cell and and cell to terminal.. thast i found that the earstwhile ok positive terminal was having some issue..
then i myself soldered that terminal.. and battery was showing 11.8 volts... then i poured the used electrolyte .. some was wasted during the shifting out process .. and the cells were fulled to optimum level with distilled water which was purchased from petrol pump wala... [didnt knew if it was distiled or other]
attached a 12 volts indicator bulb and it started to glow.. now i attached my 14 volts adapter ( actually 18volts but attached few diodes to drop voltage to 14 volts )
and now battery open circuit voltage is 13.5 volts.. will remove it from charging when it reaches 14 voltas ..
now my concern is should i just keep using with this electrolyte.. ? or should i flush it? (how if yes) and how should i refill it ? should i make the acid myself.. or buy it preprepared ..from batteries wala.. who have it in big drums.. ?
battery is 12 volts 2.5 AH.. motorcyclee battery..
i do not have hydrometer ..
any guidance welcomed..
thanks all
