Today I have experimented another thing and removed the Exide battery thinking if there is something wrong with the battery. Now added 2 phoenix 120ah batteries connected in parallel.

The battery is now giving backup for an hour hardly under two fans only
What should I do?

Are there some chances that Flush will and battery backup may become one and half hour?

Three years back I got interested in analyzing the procedure which is used by battery maintenance shops. They purchase Sulphuric in drums and then mix it with tap water in 66 % by volume. They say that chemical reaction causes the water to boil which remove the oxygen molecules from the mixture hence results in giving up gravity of 1250 which they pour it in car batteries.
Batteries run fine for minimum 2 years where as I think if it is all about removing impurities from car batteries then they are making a mistake by adding tap water which would off course boil the water but would not guarantee the removal of impurities present inside the water. I have six batteries of 200 Amps each in my office which can support 15 computers running on them during heavy load shedding. In order to over the Myth I have also purchase the drum of Sulphuric Acid and have mixed it with distilled water which I have produced it in my own lab. I took all my batteries outside and have flushed it with tab water to remove all the deposits present inside the batteries. Flush was performed multiple times then batteries were refilled with Acid of 1280 gravity prepared within my office compound. From last three years I have been maintaining the gravity of my UPS batteries up to 1280 by mixing the acid and distilled water as required. Even at the end of third year my batteries are able to provide 90 % backup time as compared to which it gave at time of purchase even after excessive load shedding of 1 hour’s with5-6 times a day from last three years. Flush was is a periodic exercise which is performed at least once a year also I have adjusted the output of my UPS to charge per battery at rate not more than 8 Amps.
Similar procedure was adopted on all my three car batteries which has been running fine without a problem from last three years with mileage more than 80000 km each.
I would like to hear about your thoughts on this but I would not recommend you to try this procedure as tremendous amount of heat is generated during the mixing process which can easily damage any individual who is doing this for the first time and also you have to leave the mixture in Plastic bucket for completed one day to allow the mixture to cool down.

you can buy solar chargers that sit on the parcel shelf or dash and charge the battery through the cigar lighter socket

dear sir i have 2000watt ups and two 190 amp batteries both connected in such a way that ups gets 24 volt
my first question is that what exact charging current should be given to both batteries
my second question is that,my ups has 3 variables for increasing charging current,if u rotate the first one upside it gives upto 40 amp which drops as batteries gets charged to 20 amp and some times 15,if u rotate the same one in downward direction a click takes place and current drops to 20amp and as the battery gets charge it falls to 5amp after three hours of charging
now my question is that if i put ups charging on high current the battery gets charged in minimum two hours but the terminal and batteries get hot when the terminal voltage reaches 28 volts
but if i go for low charging then batteries never cutoff as the voltage is never reached due to load shedding and second the batteries are on continous charge 24 hourly,tel me what should i do ,on slow charge the back up time time is one hour plus
the batteries are one yr old but look likes in good condition

There are three options to adjust charging rate on my Home UPS, first one sets the charging rate to 20 AMP, and second one sets that to 12 AMP and third one to 5AMPS.
From picture below you can see three switches near Transformer, taking the yellow wire out from one and inserting into second or third changes the charging rate. I don’t know how to do so in your case but anyhow, since we have load shedding after every 2 hours for consecutive three hours such that batteries are never fully charged before we enter into the next cycle of load shedding so I have adjusted that variable to 20 AMP. Since, this is little above then the capacity of my batteries but in-order to avoid a damage from discharged state, I have choosen this option for few days till the time load shedding does not decreases and will later undo this. Option provided on my UPS may not be same as in yours.
Adjust to its maximum capacity governed by the rule AMP-HR rating divided by 10 =charging rate. Obviously at slow charging rate, batteries will take more time to be charged and with less charging rate it will be charged with less time and charging will stop.

I bought this Wall mount Voltmeter from College Road, Rawalpindi Area. You will have to search little bit and this is very helpful as we exactly know the charge left in batteries and if UPS is behaving in abnormal fashion then readings immediately indicates us. Price of this item a year back was Rs 600 and is very helpful.
During load shedding Voltage, with fully charged batteries this values goes upto 267 Volts and with passage of time this starts to drop and once it reaches 230 Volts then we know that we have to reduce the load and once this touches 223 Volts then UPS starts to beep and shuts down. Very good indicator for those who want to keep an eye on UPS with ease. I have installed this in my office location where we have 15 computers on UPS and we exactly know if computers are safe or not.

This black meter was purchased from College Road and I had to ask the carpenter to prepare the wall mount box and then later painted it.

This time, I also had a worst experience with Volta, one of the battery is dead within first month. Probably a faulty piece from factory. Still in warranty and will try to claim it with the dealer tomorrow.

This is worth reading thread and information provided here is otherwise very difficult to find. I really appreciate and thank full to Mr. Talha.

I have a china made UPS 'Haisheng' brand name. Previously attached a battery AGS 120 ampere with it, it almost given me 2 years without any problem. Now it has reduced its backup time (30 mins or less), and i have purchased a new VOLTA NS 175 battery (1 week) and attached it in parallel.
Initially it gave me 3 hrs backup with 2 fans and 2-3 energy savers. But backup reduced within a week to 1 and half hr.

After reading this thread; i immediately removed the small old battery (AGS). I will arrange AMP meter and hydrometer and will post numbers to seek better guidance.

I have following preliminary queries/confusions:-

1. I have observed that even after a long period of load shedding, charging light gets off in 45 minutes. Therefore i assume that charging is not done properly. I shall get reading of volts at the time near to 45th minute of charging and post.
Confusion: at one place in this thread mentioned that it should be 12.8 v, and at other (many) places it is mentioned that it should be 14 volts, but that contradicts what is said in How can I tell if my battery is low and needs to... — Yahoo! Autos that "

A reading of 12.66 volts indicates a fully charged battery; 12.45 volts is 75% charged, 12.24 volts is 50% charged, and 12.06 volts is 25% charged."

2. If i have AMP meter (as shown in your previous thread entry picture), than do i neet volt meter seperately. And if i buy ammeter (which is available at the cost of 350 at college rd) is'nt it not enough for both purposes.
3. If i want to perform flush, should i charge it fully before flush, or flush should be made on discharged battery (whats the difference in chemistry?).
4. Do they (pirwadhai dealer) provide Sulphuric acid in smaller quantities, or you have to buy it in bulk (20 ltrs).

1) Consider it a mistake if I have mentioned 12.8 Volts, before charging stops voltage across terminals should hit 14 Volts. Once, charging will stop then battery voltage will drop and you will have different readings on your Voltmeter. Don’t be bothered as what you need to focus is does it reaches 14 Volts during charging or not.
2) AMP-Meter as shows previously has an option to select Voltmeters function so you wont need to buy Voltmeter separately. Try to buy a better quality AMP-meter, previously I bought 450 AMP-meter but I did not work that well then went for an expensive one for Rs 3000.
3) Batteries should be fully charged before you will perform flush.
4) Yes, they do provide in small quantity but you have to convince them that you are buying for legitimate purpose.

You actually need to verify the AMP-HR rating, like N150 would not be actually 150 AH but can be verified through their website. Charging Rate @10 AMP fine, Cutoff Voltage: 14 Volts before charging stops, Rest if tab water has been used then consider flush.

Thank you Talha for a quick replyI am worried about charging, as it is not getting fully charged, today I observed five hours and still battery was charging. I have visited two battery shops all don't have any branded Electrolyte instead they are locally made and they all admitted that they use tap water. Please suggest me some good electrolyte and where I may put the electrolyte, already in the battery, is it same to put in drain?
