i read approx 20 pages and manages to save my 200 amp battery ! although 50% recovered from heart attack, needs to discuss issue with u and others who might facing similar issue ....
I have 2 ups, (1 appolo brand new and other local desi (configurable))
i have Excide batt N 245 which is approx 190-200 amp ! its 7 months old.
recently it starts reducing water level ! like few weeks back when 1 hr load shedding after 1 hr wapda, it happened and i haven't read this thread yet, i filled it with acid from market which was approx 1300 gravity and in next 2 days backup time reduced to 20 mins for 2 fans and 2 energy savors.
anyways, then i read this thread but due to lack of time and space + resources, i gave this batt to a battery guy and told him exactly what is told in this thread, like drain acid, prepare electrolyte in distilled water of 1280 gravity and recharge etc ....
after that the backup time reached 3 hrs for same applications.
but i witnessed few things, ups is appolo , it always charging the battery, but at very low amps, like 1.5 - 0.8 random, but i never saw it stopped, And the battery is hot !!! not warm, its hot !!!! on checking water level it is empty in 1 week. the plates are dry from above, filled approx 2 liters of ac out water (near to distilled water) !!!!! And now again the backup time is reduced to approx 1.5 hrs ....
gravity was low when i filled distilled water, battery temp raises high so i removed ups and let it cool down for 6 hrs, now again i connected ups, lets see .....
please guide me why battery is loosing water >? 2ndly why ups not cutting of charge !!!! whether its very low amp but still, it should stop charging. should i suspect ups (brand new appolo) Taiwanese make. btw, ups is 720watt !!!! 12volt. wapda is good like 230 volts most of the time stable.....
