UPS should cut off charging once Voltage reaches 14 Volts whereas in your scenario it was 14.5 Volts and I think it little high. 14.2 should be maximum but I don’t recommend 14.5. it makes a hell lot of difference once it comes to battery life. Remind me of a post where I recommended 14.5 Volts. You can still try flush, refill the batteries with new electrolyte and put it back on charging. Did you check the Specific gravity of all the cells, secondly now since it does not goes above 13.3 then did you verify the charging rate at this instance maybe it is set to a very low level. I think, verify the charging rate as it maybe a culprit.

As for flushing the battery, I did that a couple of weeks back and prepared the battery again with fresh electrolyte (tested with hydrometer @ batt. shop) . Coming to the charging rate, not sure how I can check it as the multi-meter I have is rated at 10A max but I have a keera of tinkering with things so I went ahead and checked it by attaching the probes for 2-3secs (multi-meter's wires became HOT) and the reading on multi-meter came out to be 18amps.

Maybe a dead cell? I can't check the gravity at the moment as I don't have a hydrometer of my own, not available in the local hardware shop.

p.s I couldn't find any knob on UPS PCB for charge rate adjustment, here's a pic... any ideas?

Load shedding is less because our dams are full, in-fact we there are low level floods in few part of country. Anyway

If you have some extra cash then I would advise you to buy a 2000 Watt -24 Volt system. Try to buy two batteries of 175 AMP-HR or I think it maybe NS- 175. It may cost you around 11000 Rs each roughly and maximum 13k on 24 Volt, 2000 Watt UPS system.

Further, if you live in Lahore then try to visit pyrochemicals and buy the electrolyte from them. If can you can do this then make sure that you fill the electrolyte your own self in batteries. Before you buy the UPS system, get it adjusted using the techniques I have mentioned on this thread. Just don’t blindly buy the UPS as 90 % of the local UPS available in market requires adjustment and you need to get it don’t from seller right under your nose.

If you don’t want to spend extra then you can also buy 12 Volt system but do install minimum of 200 AMP-Hr battery with it. Get the UPS adjusted before you buy like I said and try if you can get good electrolyte like I have mentioned above.

Automotorsport_lover bro has also suggested me 24volt system but he also said that buy atleast 100amp 2 batteries so what do u suggest are these fine with 24volt system coz I cant spend too much on batteries.... As far as UPS concerned so i'm thinking to buy CYBERPOWER UPS which charges the battery @ 10amp i think.... So other than that what sort of UPS adjustments U r telling me ? plz explain... thanks....

Jibran bro, go ahead with cyberpower and dont spend too much in battries and ups, leave a little cushion just incase... God forbid if battery troubles or something you might need more money to spend despite of putting everything new. So keep some extra money with you

100-150 amp battries will do perfect for your needs, if you wonna use tv/PC or something heavy on UPS then I will recommend you desi ups with large battries. But for fans, this set up is good enough.

Plus make sure you buy battries from an original authorised dealer! Dont go to small shops which sell so many brands under one roof and lie that they are dealers of them all! Lol..

Try to get that pyro electrolyte and ensure the first charging is slow..,
(ideally it is 4 amps but it would take up to 2 days of charging to get fully charged... Try charging at a reasonably lower rate but the rate at which these battries guys charge is horribly fast! Full volts in 15-20mins!! I think 10-12 amp would charge it in a few hours which is reasonable)

I have checked my chip based ups (Appolo) keeps on charging the battery for hrs and trying to reach 13.9 volts as per manual but some how it isn't achieved right now and battery becomes hot !!!!
now i have attached my desi ups and cut of the volts somewhere 12.5 volts, not sure ! as my clamp meter wont give precise reading, just round 12, 13 bla bla ..... anyways, good thing is now battery temperature is not that hot and it shows battery full after 3 hrs of charging which my new chip based couldn't make it. ! Now battery is warm not hot but i fear it will reduce the backup time, as these days there isn't that much load shedding, hardly 2-3 hrs per day, so it runs well 2 fans and 1 energy savor.
I will now try to find some good battery shop for electrolyte and prepare in front of me with distilled water .... i wish pyro chem would be here !!!! wish u luck regarding metro and pyro

I intend to visit Metro and ask the Manager to contact pryochemicals so that they may provide us with 1250 electrolyte. This will save us from trouble of preparing the electrolyte.

Pyro electrolyte was available at Metro Lahore about a year back in 500ml bottles, but it was discontinued. When I visited their office in Lahore and asked them about it, they said they have discontinued the 500ml bottles and now they only sell the 30kg can.

Batt Full: you can adjust the cutoff from here
Batt Low: you can adjust when UPS will sound beep and will shutdown from here.
Fix Volt: I think you can adjust the output Voltage during load shedding from here. Get this confirmed by placing a Voltmeter in output line and slightly moving it.
Main Low; you can adjust the minimum output Voltage from this variable like if adjusted to 210 volts then UPS will beep and will shutdown.
Over Load: Maximum Load you can insert on UPS at a given time before it will immediately shutdown. Like you don?t want someone to connect IRON on UPS line.

Charging Rate: there is a small clip which has three wires coming from transformer whereas one of it is connected with a yellow wire. If you will unscrew the yellow wire and connect it with another wire coming from transformer then your charging rate will be changed. You need a AMP-Meter to verify this every time you do so. Always turnoff your UPS, disconnect the batteries from UPS before doing so otherwise you are up for a big electric shock.

i recommend 150 AMP-HR batteries and rest is your choice. you will have to get your charging rate adjusted, cut off Voltages, output Voltages and Overload Voltage etc.

should be between 1250 to 1270 on new and charged batteries and a lot depends upon initial ratio of sulfuric acid and distilled water

Bro my battery is giving only 15 mins backup after refilling. The ups keeps charging all day but voltage won't go beyond 13.6v. As soon as I disconnect the ups, the battery gets down to 12.3v & start decreasing.
I checked voltage of individual cells by dipping +ve of voltmeter in each cell & connecting -ve to battery -ve. The readings were 0.4v on 2 cells, 8.x v on 2 cells & 4.x v on 2 cells. Is the procedure correct? & wat abt the readings

maybe im wrong but the amp meter u r using isnt it capable of measuring just AC current only ? how can u use it to measure DC current?
