Just had deal for Volta V100Z batteries, will be using two of these. Was having a tight budget thats why first time trying volta... have lately heard some people strongly recommending Millat batteries too.

Can any one tell how much actual amperes would this V100Z have? & How good is this brand volta?

Battery is always bought after looking at the charging capacity of your ups if it’s not adjustable. As far as your main question is concerned, you will have to look into their website in-order to confirm.

Rest, I am not a brand ambassador so cannot comment but my personal experience says that phoenix is the best within lead acid batteries.

I have an APC 1500VA UPS (the rack-mount type) with 2 x 135AH batteries. The UPS charges the battery with 5-8A current and the cut-off voltage appears to be at 27.5V. Once the batteries reach the 27.6V threshold, the UPS stops charging them. However, when the utility power switches off, the UPS starts beeping immediately showing that the battery is almost drained. However, the battery does provide the back-up of around 2+ hrs. before the UPS completely switches off.
On load with no utility power, the voltage of battery bank is around 23.7V with load being 24A @ 24V DC which is equivalent to 1.8A @ 220V AC. And with no load the Voltage is maintained at 25.4V.
My query is that why is the battery voltage dropping to 23.7V on load, and how can i rectify the problem of UPS showing low battery on load even with 2+ hrs. back-up time remaining.

i have been usign 1200VA HEC Power PureSine Wave ups.. bought it from college road 8 months ago.. i bought AGS 175 AH Battery.. the load on this is hardly 300 watts.. as there is little loadsheddign in islamabad for the past 8 months my battery watter was in range.. (the battery was prepared with rainwater as i jut came to konw about it.. )

the problem is that last month my electricity bill was 8k wheareas it should be 3-4k at most. i noted that my UPS seems to be charging and it very frequently ..(as its fan starts working for few minutes after every 1-2 hours)..

i have flushed the acid/water from inside it there was a lot of dirt inside it .. like mud water.. . i was shocked it was very dirty muddy water.. it is now empty.

tommorrow i will cleanse it using tap water.. i was feeling a bit energetic to do it and cleaned it with tap water .. filled it with tap water and shook it and then flush out the water .. every time i would do it there was a lot of black water coming out of it. i repeated it almost 12 times .. to get goo results.
now what to do ? its empty .
should i just pour normal distiled water in it or mix suplphuric acid and distiled water adn wait a day and pour it..?

meanwhile i have bought four one litre of AGS Water bottles.. (each 1 litre bottle costing 80 rs).. damn expensive .. any alternative place in islmabad or rwp where i can buy distilled water and good acid ? today i.e on 11 oct i searched a lot for pure acid . .no one was giving it . they were only selling it premixed with tap water.. and it wash insane to explain the logic to them.. eveyone said they are using
alay ka pani\ and though i am some fool.

now that i have drained the battery dry and no acid in sight it seems my option is to get that dirty acid water and pour it in battery ..

should i just pour that water in battery and charge it or should i prepare it with acid...

where in rawalpindi/islamabd can i buy good sulphuric acid ? i am in I-9.

i have hydrometer how should i use it ? i checked tap water with it and the thermomemter thingy showd 1.2 ...

Thanks for the reply. The deionised water I am using is not from Pyro, it is from Valley Deionised water from Islamabad. I am satisfied with this water as it is certified to be good by other members also, as well it is very cheap (Rs 100 for 6 litre bottle).
As regards the changing of electrolyte, u advised me not to change it, what I understand from the previous discussion in this forum is that if the original electrolyte is made from tap water, it has impurities, which should be get rid of otherwise it would affect the battery performance and life of the battery would be reduced. And another thing, how can it increase the concentration of acid as i would be replacing it with proper specific gravity electrolyte. Can u explain these two points to decrease my confusion.

from where you bought it ? i bought ags tonic 1 ltr for 80 rs.. i would also buy from them..

1st it depends on your ups if it keeps overcharging the battery and eventually damage it. Secondly it is Because of eid light didnt go.. dont worry loadshedding will be back and its okay for a battery if light goes even if its only 2 hrs.

No, I have never heard that this will reserve the battery life. Best deal is that let it remain connected to your ups as batteries gives maximum life once let it remained in fully charged state and charging device such as ups ensures this. Occasionally one a month is you let it fully discharge and let UPS charge it again then I think that’s a best possible scenario.

There is nothing wrong with voltage dropping to 23.7Volts under load. Actually UPS should shut down once voltage on battery terminal reaches 10.3V + 10.3 volts =20.6 Volts, that the limit at which batteries are considered 80% discharged before needed charging again and if you don’t know then let me explain that lead acid batteries should not be discharged 80% below is actual capacity.

Cutoff voltage for batteries are badly setup which in return will affect the useful life, it should be set minimum up to 28Volts and maximum is 28.8Volts. this can be very well adjusted on local UPS systems but if you have imported then you should look at the user manual to see sorts of batteries recommended for this system.

I already mentioned the source in main thread who sells de-ionized water in Islamabad @Rs 9/liters. Rain water, air conditioning water has lot of impurities in it as it gets all this because of dirty drainage or from atmosphere.

Electrolyte is prepared a day prior to performing flush and flush its self is not blindly performed as it has its own merits before performing this exercise as discussed in main thread.

If ever you felt the need to perform the flush then it is not done more then 4-5 times that’s too before batteries are fully charged and new electrolyte is filled immediately after and batteries put back onto charging. Maybe its good to keep the batteries inverted for around half an hour maximum before you fill new electrolyte in.

Since you are based in I-9, buy the de-ionized water from source based in sector I-9 and ask someone to prepare the electrolyte for you. Meanwhile since you made the blunder so I would advise you to fill it with tab water and leave it like this before you get your hands on good electrolyte.

Process of preparing electrolyte involves mixing of acid with distilled water which produces a lot of heat, experiment which is not at all recommended to be done by novice.

Why are you buying AGS tonic, which will essentially be a de-ionized water @ rs 80 per liters once you have a source based in Islamabad which sells de-ionized water @ Rs 9 per liters.

Kindly read in detail the address of de-ionized water supplier based in Islamabad in main body of thread.

According to this owner, TDS values of water being supplied by these companies are very high, its just like fooling/ripping the public.

the battery was kept dry for 1 week .. as i coudlnt find pure acid so had to buy premixed one..

i bought battery water premixe with acid . the water was AC water.. and the specific gravity was 1260.. but after filling the battery with it and measuring its specific gravity it changed to 1100 +- 20.. why ?

now it is on charger .
it is beign charged at 10Amps.

it was kept 2 hours disconnected from load/charger after filling it ..

After first full charge after flushing battery specific gravity of 5 cells is 1200 and for one it is 1190.

Should i wait for few charges/discharges for the specific gravity to reach its optimal level ?

After fully charged I disconnected the ups input and connected it to load to test is runtime. The load was about 105-110 watts as shown on my Watt meter. The batter reached its 20% capacity after 5 and half hours.
My battery is ags 175ah 12 volts and ups is hec power pure sinewave 1200va.

so i have below questions:
1: why the specific gravity fell from 1260 to 1100 when the mixture was poured into battery ?
2: why the specific gravity was at 1200 (at first full charge) when ups showed fully charged and stoped pumping current to it.. would the specific gravity grow to the desired level after few charges ?
3: today it is fully charged again but its specific gravity is 1150 in all cells and one cell is showing 1100.
