what is the cost of 30 liter drum of pryo electrolyte.

UGS 175 has an amp-hr rating of 135, if your ups is imported one then you cannot adjust the charging rate on this and if its local then you can do something about it.

So coming back to the point, 135amp-hr means that maximum allowable charging rate should be 13.5 Amperes.
With 12 amperes of charging rate is not beyond 13.5 but still is towards an high end, if I could have adjusted then I would have kept it till 7-9 amperes maximum.

Maybe, you should consider buying UGS 215 AS ITS amp-hr rating is 160, would give you a better backup time and plus 12 amperes of charging rate will be ok for it.

Even then you want to go for UGS 175 then slightly reduce the charging rate to 7-8 amperes. Slow charging is always good for batteries, 7-8 amperes won?t be slow but should be ok.

28.3 v is ok.

Won't slow charging sulphate the batteries? I have set charging rate to 12.5 for my ugs 175. As suggested by @ishtiaq778 bro it should be fine if its under 15amps.

Yup, considering the quality of electrolyte (and my usage) its really cheap.

PS: its been a more than a month now with the purchase and i still have 80% of Can with electrolyte left with me lol

Let's suppose I purchase UGS 175 and keep it at 12A charging, how long would it take to completely charge these fully drained batteries??? And if I change it to 8A as you suggested, how long would that take to fully charge them from a full discharge state??? I don't want too slow charging k poori batteries charge hi na hoon and light dobara chaali jai, phir itni baari batteries laine ka faida,if you know what I mean.

And for just one USG 175 battery what should be the cutoff Voltage, 14V or 14.3V???

Also got these enquiries bro, hope you can clear things for me as you seem to be quite knowledgeable, so I'll ask you a few questions, hopefully you will share your knowledge.

#1 What's the approx wattage of a ceiling fan???

#2 And as I've mentioned my requirements, how much load in WATTS do you think I'll put on the UPS with " 4 ceiling fans, 1 small side fan, 4-6 23W energy savers, 2-3 tube lights, 1 old style Sony TV and 1 PTCL internet modem."???

#3 My UPS is currently charging batteries initially at 12-13A, is this fine and safe??? What advantage or disadvantage of increasing or decreasing this setting???

#4 My UPS is currently outputting 270-280V when on battery use and batteries last only 1 hour, if I reduce this setting to let's say 250-260V output, would that provide a longer battery time???

#5 My UPS is currently cutoff at 14.30V, if I increase or decrease this setting what benefit/disadvantage would it do???

#6 The two batteries I'm currently using used to give 1.5 hours of backup, recently after a 2 hours loadshedding and draining of batteries, the backup is hardly 45 mins. I've checked the electrolyte level and it is fine, and I've checked the voltages and it cutoff at 28.30-28.60V and after a while one battery is stable at 12.60V and the other at 12.38V. And during the last few minutes of backup I've checked both batteries show above 11V but the fans speed too slow, signalling battery juice run out and output shows only 200-210V. So what could be the issue here??? Do I need to ask the battery wala to charge the batteries fully??? They charge 300Rs for this service as you might know.

1: a ceiling fan has somewhat 60watts to 80 watts maximum.

2: for 4 ceiling fans it would be 4x70 watts = 280 watts
- 6 energy saver of 23Watts would be 6x23 watts = 140 watts approx.
- 3 tube lights would be 35x3 = 105 watts
- 1 TV = 120Watts approx.
- PTCL modem= 10Watts

adding it all will sum up to = 655 Watts.

if you putt all this load at the same time you would need a 700W UPS for that. (the more the better of course)

Coming to battery,

3 :: you UPS Charging amp should be 10% of total battery AH power i-e battery Ah/10, as u said you have a UGS 175 that has a power of 135Amp/hour. 135/10 = 13.5 amps. but as we know during charging approx. 40% of energy is wasted in heat and chemical reaction porcess in Pb-Acid battery so your amps should 135 plus 40% loss = 190 approx. so your UPS should be set to around 190/10 = 19 amp. to be safe and not accidentally overcharging the battery your UPS should be set to 18 to 18.5 amps.
slow charging is good for battery it increases its overall life. high charging currents (more than the capacity of battery) will damage it and shorten the battery life.

4: the time a battery lasts depends on how much load you are putting on it.
according to your scenario, you have a 135 amp/hr battery and a load of Watts which means if you put all this load at the same time your battery will discharge completely in around less than 20 minitues. And no decreasing the Volts will not increase your time. your battery time only depends on load you are putting on it. theoretically, decreasing your volts to 250 will no doubt decrease the amps being used by the appliance you are using but that effect will be almost near to zero when it comes to time.

5:: your UPS cut-off should never NEVER EVER be more than 14.2 volts. you should set it to a cutoff at 14.0 volts to be safe.

in case of excessive load shedding,

you should set your ups to such Amps so that it recharges the battery to 14.2 volts and cuttoff before next cycle of loadshedding starts. (yes more amps means fast charging which damages the battery, but what can be done if we have to use it that way, atleast it is better than undercharging the battery and draining to deepcycle discharges which kills the battery)

I was out of town n meanwhile water in my 2x 165 phoenix batteries dried up. On my return I filled em up but now the batteries get extremely hot while discharging n backup has reduced from 5 hours+ to 50 mins only
The batteries are connected to a 24 volt homage 2000 va ups. They are about ab year old
helpful suggestions awaited.

I suggest you to take them to the battery wala and have him inspect and recharge them for you. Hopefully it's not a permanent damage yet, but do this as a priority or your batteries will die.

Once battery become hot, it remains hot during cyclic use, charging and discharging.

I suggest you to replace the batteries. You have used them for 2 summer seasons almost. and your batteries got severe heart attack.
If you keep using these batteries, your UPS will be damaged and your electricity bill will shock you
