Makra Peak July 2018

Aoa everyone,

I'm planning on short trip to Makra peak in the first week on July 2018. I've been wanting to do the makra trek since a while now but have not been able to do so. I've done some research around and on pakwheels too but haven't been able to set my itinerary.

I'll be leaving on the night of 29th June (Friday), from here on wards i need to plan my trip around the trek. Basically what i want is to get a nights rest after travelling from lahore and before starting the trek.

After departing from Lahore where should i make the first night stay before starting the trek next morning?
Any good/reasonable hotels in kiwai or paras where i can stay and then travel to paye on jeep and from there onwards on foot to makra.

Also want to complete the trek in one day - trek to makra spend an hour or two at the top and then back to hotel.

If anyone could guide me with regards to stop overs i should be making, costs, where to stay and travel times.

Also any other nearby places i could visit within a budget.

I've done some basic trekking before as well, so trekking isn't an issue. Done Fairy meadows, hopper glacier, attempted makra once before from muzaffarabad but couldnt complete because of the group i was with.

Any help would be appreciated.

kindly note, i have a week off from work so time is not an issue, however budget is. I'll be having around 10-12k for any amount of days under a week.

MOST IMPORTANTLY - i will be travelling alone, will get a ride from a friend till anywhere before babusar that means i can get dropped off at any place before babusar. rest of the trip i'll be on my own, the trekk and travelling back to lahore on local.

well 1 week is heel lotof time for makra... the trek is a 2 day one... bht ho jay tu 3.. baki 2 din traveling kay...... i am not that much sure abt budgt as i have not done this trek myself but u can get guide form paye meadows village at around 1000-1200 per day.......

Well i would suggest you to get dropped at kiwai, then go to Shogran, you can hitch hike as a lot of vehicles are on that track or you can go on foot, it's 7km from kiwai.

Then from shogran, you can trek to paye (Jeep charges are 2500 return trip) . I have seen a lot of people doing that trek.

You can take your camp with you and camp on paye or you can rent a camp for 1500 a night on paye, so i would suggest you take a camp with you.

You can do this in 1 day, i mean the same day you get dropped off at kiwai. Take rest on paye by spending night there. Then in the morning you can start your trek to makra peak and come back to paye same day. Camp at paye for night and then in the morning start your trek back to shogran and then to kiwai....

this is an economic option IMHO.

From Kiwai to Shogran is approximately a 2.5-3 hour trek on foot. From Shogran, how long is the trek to Paye?

The way you've put it, im planning to get dropped at kiwai, trek to shogran and then trek onwards to paye same day. Is this manageable?

I was checking on Google map and i got 2 results. One was from Shogran to Paye, thats around 7.5 Km's and easily manageable on foot.

The second result was of Siri Paye Meadows which is a 31.5 Km distance.

A bit confused with Paye, Siri Paye and Siri Paye Meadows and which one to go to.

Yes sir, like i mentioned i've got extra days apart from the Makra trek. Any places near Makra i can visit to utilize the remaining days?

From kiwai to shogran it is 7km, yes you can track but it's better if you take a lift as there are many vehicles on that road, it will save time as you need to trek from shogran to siri paye meadows as well. Jeep takes around 20 minutes from shogran to siri paye but i am not sure how much time it takes to trek.

you will need minimum 3 hours from kiwai to siri paye on foot. 31.5 Km is not true.

Paye, siri paye and siri paye meadows, all names are used for same place.
