Manual to Auto conversion

I own a Honda City 1998 car with manual tranny. I now want to convert it to Auto tranny and give this car to my wife.

I can get the Auto parts from a 2002-2003 city. Now is that a good idea? Any possible pit falls that you guys can see with this conversion?

The car is on CNG by the way, but the pick is still pretty good even with AC switched on.

i would suggest sell the city and get a auto city geniune either way if u do the maths it will cost u the same and i wud not suggest u to do the conversion as there is no way u can get a good conversion and it will mess up ur wiring which is the heart of auto tranny ......
or u teach bhabi to drive manual cars......
its best to buy automatic cars which are geniune.....
conversions dont last long and give u hassle and regular stops to workshops

secondly 98 city is carby..wonder if the A/T tranny from 01-02 city will have issues with it.

I agree that the conversion might mess things up if not done correctly, but I have to disagree with "doing the maths".

The city 98 car that I own (first owner) has clocked 270,000 KM and still is in excellent condition. But I am sure I won't get more than 350,000 for it if I try to sell it.

I am getting the auto tranny with fitting done (all things inclusive) in 11,000 only. I did get various quotes that ranged up to 25,000. However the guy quoting 11,000 is some one I have known for the last 7 years who has earned my trust with his honesty and quality of work.

So coming back to the math 350K +11K=361K only. I don't think I can get a decent auto city in that amount, or can I?

Moreover I don't think that the carby will have any major effect on the conversion, or will it? If it will then maybe I can get the carby converted to EFI

The bottom line is that I don't want to sell my car!!!

i understand where ur comming from but usually conversions dont work and carby dont effect auto trannys so dont worry abt efi or carb ......
best of luck with the conversion but one advise just buy the orginal wiring ghucha i mean the whole engine bay wiring loom as u might need to install a tcu as well for the tranny ....

easiest nd safest way wud b to sell off ur manual nd buy an auto, but it will die on cng.

If uve got the tym then I thk the best option is to teach bhaabi how to drive stik shift as faisi bhai said

I converetd my 1.3 auto EG to B18C5 with a manual tranny and it was also turbo charged later and mashallah never ever had any issues.
Yes just make sure what ever you get is all original.

to save yourself from hassles you must find a job willing to change your entire setup for automatic. That is engine + gearbox + ecu. Doing halfway conversion will be cumbersome processes requiring hacksaw of auto trans which may impair its proper functionality.

Why the engine? All Honda city vehicles from 1998 t0 2003 have the same engine (except the City Neo which is 1.5).

I guess upgrading from carb to EFI might help but I don't see any reason why the engine has to be changed.

CNG in automatic City has failed. A guy had City 2003 (automatic)with CNG, it gave him 30 kms in a cylinder. The Honda people strongly advise against CNG installation in auto city, as the transmission does not support it.

Just call Honda showroom to be sure.

dear i dont agree with u coz i own city 2002 auto n it gives me 130 with ac n 150+ without ac in city as far as pick is concerned yes it does reduce when ac is on otherwise its ok
