whats so hard in buying 2.5 litres of Caltex Delo Gold motor oil and pouring that in the gearbox. its available at all truckstands quite cheaply too.

The Diesel engine one, right?

So today I replaced the Zic transmission fluid with Caltex Delo Gold motor oil. The knocking from gear box is like 20% decreased (if its not psychological) but its still there. Gears change normal as before except the reverse (feels like reversing a Bedford truck). Looking for more suggestions on what to try next..

replace the syncronizers on that

you need to overhaul the gear box now its upto you to overhaul it or throw in a new one

synchronizers = karha (bracelet)

if your reverse is crashing then your clutch is not working like it should - the reverse gear has no synchronizer. Try to shift to reverse after 30 seconds of pressing the clutch to ensure the transmission has stopped.

If it still crashes, replace the rubber pipe on the slave cylinder and recheck.

Okay, will check with reversing after clutch pressed for 30 sec. So ask the mechanic to check the clutch cylinder and change the karha of reverse gear? Damn hard to get any mechanical work done in Ramadan.

About the knocking sound? Its almost the same after changing the gear oil. If there is no easy solution to it and it remains without damaging anything else, I can live with it for a few days.

there is no karha (syncronizer) on the reverse gear, that is why i asked you test it, if you hear it crash, it means the transmission input shaft has not disengaged from the engine - which is the clutch's job.

I am having a civic 2005 vti oriel the issue that I am facing is that the car runs good drives good but when I shift the car from 1 gear to 2 gear it makes a sound as if something is touching other thing it happens only in this gear rest gear and shifting is normal no sound could anyone help please

fist thing you should do is change the transmission oil and use only honda mtf or delo 10w30/40. nothing else. this has been discusses earlier aswell many times,use the search function. See if it solves the problem

I want to know that changing gear oil does affect the fuel mileage or not. And what is the location of gear oil drain and pouring bolt? Of Honda Civic 2003 manual.

I am getting the 9.5 kmpl on local and 13 kmpl on highway without AC. Stock engine no oil reduction. Using oil is shell hx7 5w30 all filters changes fuel,oil,air,ac. Radiator is filled with coolant with auto fan. Changed injectors with kabuli set also because ealier they were dumping more fuel which causes the black smoke. All alignment and suspension done. Tyre are 195/65/15 Micheline with alloy rims. With no error in ecu or check light. I have got to know that it has Ideal fuel mixture potentiometer under the glove box which has reading of 2.03v i asked and saw it while when i was inspecting the while mechanics were doing their jobs. And there is no tappets knocking sound.

yes - gear oil does reduce drag.

the drain and fill bolts are obvious - in typical Honda fashion the drain bolt is a 3/8 square drive. a 3/8 ratchet or breaker fits there perfectly.

the fill bolt is on the diff casing side.

Only drain and fill with car perfectly level, not on ramps or on jacks on one side.

You will need 3 litres of oil - fill quantity is 2.5 litres.

No sound of tappet knocking doesnt necessarily mean they are in correct specs, they can be too tight which can cause engine performance to drop
