Exactly what website were they copy pasted from ? What I posted was from my own knowledge. Lets try putting what I said, into google and see what comes up:

Lastly as far as the unichip goes, it was just there to disprove that the 1.8L SOHC cannot perform as well as B16. If you've done the googling by now you probably know what I'm talking about.

Meray bhai, a car is a package ( which include an engine and a body of certain weight) which is sold to a customer. Everyone knows that Baleno GTTi 1.6 Ltr engine out-accelerated competitors. Reason = faster package. Honda and Toyota sold a slower package.
Lets see a comparison here:

Baleno 99:weight 890 Kg, 97 HP, 104 NM torque
Civic 99:weight 1069 Kg, 106 HP, 140 NM torque

Baleno faster acceleration than the civic.

Yes, the engine was legendary and I do know more about it because when you were in class 4 or 5, I was driving one and hanging around with the people whose opinions are now considered expert. According to people of that time, it was a legendary engine

Heck, lets talk about the G-series Suzuki engines. The G13bb was legendary and it was made so by the swift GT. Now if you do some research, you will find out that the swift GT was a legend of it's time as well It remained in production without any major changes in the world for 11 years. That is not a small feat.

Bro u still have not read it and that proves my point. as far as chipping goes, u can chip any car to get better performance than stock... not just civics.

Let me make it easier for you. Compare the R18A to the Altis 1.8's engine.

Civic (SOHC) = 140 HP
Altis (DOHC) = 132 HP

By the way at any point, I have not said that SOHC is better than DOHC, I have simply stated that "any DOHC" is not better than "any SOHC" until you compare the underlying engineering (which you clearly haven't so far). There are SOHC engines which are more powerful than DOHC counterparts. Again look at the above example (R18A vs the Altis's engine, 1zz-fe i think).

Now if you want me to futher prove that SOHC engines have their own place in the world, then you might want to take a look at the F series of engines produced by Honda:

Do your "research" again and you'll see these SOHC engines have crossed over the 200hp mark (something commonly found on the 2.0 Liter K series engines these days).

Also, you cannot just "chip any car" to get better performance. ECUs cannot be remapped as easily as you think so. Especially the newer OBD-II engines.

Anyway I'm not going to argue for the sake of arguing as I have better things to do. I'm just going to say, DOHCs are easier to extract more power from than a similar SOHC. But engine makers like Honda have done it.

actually the D16Y8 has 127 hp n 144 Nm of torque, ur facts are wrong n whats with the age thing??? u try to prove urself as a very mature person with loads of experience yet ur facts are all wrong n u act like a child! me acting as a child isnt that wierd cuz i for 1 dont try to prove myself as a very experienced person!

Bro there are after-market performance chips available for all the engines under the sun; be it Suzuki, Toyota or Honda. That is a totally different territory all together.

secondly, the only difference betweejn G13b and G16b is 300 CC of displacement and probably a slightly bigger oil sump. that shouldd increase maybe...maximum 5-6 Kg? So this argument does not hold water.

Bro I never said that SOHC was an inferior technology. All I said was that DOHC engines tend to rev more freely and have a sportier character. This is proven by Honda engineers going the DOHC route for sporty applications including the pinnacle of motorsport...F1 !. I do agree with your statement that SOHC engines have their own place in the world. If they did not, then there would not have been so many of those out there.

so what ur saying is that the engine block is same, all they have done is increased the diameter of the cylinder?? thats poor engineering in my view! bigger explosion n thinner walls, thats bad! anyways, the 1.6 baleno is history now
