I have recently purchased a Mark-X 250G Standard. It is one of my dream cars and finally Allah has blessed me to get mine. Anyways, i have put alot of time in researching on the car and finding service information and maunal (Have not been able to find the manual). Came across this thread and it really helped me alot in finding out what to get serviced and where to get it. Plus also like to fix alot of things myself (My friends call it a bug in me ). Long story short here are the details on what i did:
First and foremost, got the engine oil replaced, the old owner kept a notebook (thank god) and it helped me put in the right oil. Filled the engine with Zic A+ Synthetic oil 5W-20 with (About 6.5 litres with oil filter change). Cost: Rs.5450 With oil filter and 7 liters of oil (got 1 liter oil extra to fill up as necessary and only used 0.4 liters next day to make the oil level as specific to dip stick).
Went to Nazir Autos G-8. Got the Gear Oil and Differential Oil changed and in good time. Old oil was near to dead. Gear Oil used: Toyota ATF WS 4 litres. Diff Oil used: Petroman GL-5. Total Cost oil and labour: Rs.7700.(Rs.1500 Labour).
There was a voltage issue that was causing the pre (Audio system) to reset on engine cranking. Found out that it had a CNG65A Volta battery in it which is under power as with 12 years since make, the wiring tends to get weak and needs a stronger batter. Also Mark X comes in the beast categories like BMW, Lexus and Merc and all these car have dry batteries rather than acid ones. So went to market and got the acid volta replaced with hankook (115) korean (Cost Rs.13000 - (old Battery Rs.2500 as it was 3 months old) = Rs.10500) dry battery with 88AH and 680 CCA(Cold Cranking Amps). Voltage issue gone. Half self start no blinking of lights on load.
Before replacing the battery, the car's HID would turn off after 10 - 30 seconds after turning on. Researched and found out that it was due to bad HID Bulbs. Tried to install kabli ones but they would turn of as well within 30 seconds. The mechs said change the ballasts etc and asked for lots of money for the replacement but i resisted and wanted to research on the problem a bit and turned out the low amp battery. After the battery was changed to a stronger one, went again to another shop to test out kabli HID bulbs Phillips XenEco D4S (Cost Rs.4000/set) and voila! The HIDs started working again. So remember, these cars require strong amps from battery so think hard on replacing them with good ones. Will cost alot but worth the money.
The Air conditioner filter was very dirty so went to a (forgot the name of the shop but it is right in front of Ijaz Autos in chota bazzar Saddar pindi in basment where i got a replacement filter for Rs.300 only and replaced it myself. (This filter is located right behind the glove box.)
Lastly the only thing remaining was to get the front suspension checked as alot of noise on bumps and jumpers. Went to Saeed Autos in Mithu Khan Ahata pindi. Old chimta bushes were totally broken so got kabli ones almost new (If you go there do get to see all the chimtas they have and select the best ones out of it.). Due to broken bushes the ball joints were loose as well so went ahead and got the whole front suspension opened and all ball joints pressed and new rubber covers etc. Cost: Rs: 10500 (Rs. 2500 labour + Rs. 1000 Kharatiya + Rs.7000 chimtas with original bushes).
So now the car is working great. During the 6 point work. The left break line rubber pipe was found leaking very slowly. Got it replaced twice and still its leaking. Right now working to find a good pipe but i think its not an issue of the pipe. Will keep you up to date on what i find out about the problem. Other than that everything working awesome.
I recommend that all the guys with Mark X start posting on this forum in detail to help others as there is little to no info on maintaining mark x in pakistani blogs and on internet.
