Mark X servicing

We checked all fuses, some of them were desi so replaced the correct ones, thanks to Ghuncha@pakwheels ho did this part and the cabin filter part, Also got himself hurt in the process

Oh hoh, it's no big deal for Ghuncha "Commando". He loses a finger or two everytime he solders a resistor to a PCB. He grows things back fast enough

Toyota's WS trans oil is recommended for CVT trans, if ur car's trans is CVT so do'nt use ATF T4 or any other in it cause transmission demage.

i beg to differ, the ws oil as mentioned by Toyota is for life, i.e. you don't need to change it, and Toyota recommend it for a960e tranny which is not cvt

@Ghuncha has some theory on it from the transmission data of A960, going by which maximum replacement can be 1liter for this tranny It is still a mystery for me.

ok here is my theory, you don't need to change the atf ws oil at any given interval, you just need to top it up when any servicing is done on the tranny. after topping till the overflow plug you add the amount of oil mentioned.

now i have attached the refilling procedure, and it is clear from that, now what happened in this specific mark x case was, that when the overflow plug was opened, 3.7 liters of oil came out, and than the over flow plug was put back and oil refilled from the refill plug hole, until oil started to come out of there, it was 3.7 liter.
people take the overflow plug as drain plug and refill plug as the overflow plug, and basically overfill their tranny, the previous mechanic must have done the same too.
Spectra doesn't agrees with this, i have no experience of my own, and my theory is based on the manual.

further more to support my point that the oil doesn't needs to be changed is due to the fact that there is no atf level stick as in normal autos and no refilling point in the engine bay as in normal autos.

I dont feel like risking t he tranny with lesser oil so it is the way it is for now. As thec ar was running fine previously and now as well so i guess extra oil (if any) is just roaming around inside

I dont feel like risking t he tranny with lesser oil so it is the way it is for now. As thec ar was running fine previously and now as well so i guess extra oil (if any) is just roaming around inside

there is only one belt which is good for another 25k kms. will change it at 100k kms service

ATF WS is recommended for this transmission, due to non availability, i had to put in ATF T-IV, car is fine so far Lets see what happens.

Frr oil, i think putting in Toyota 5W-30 or 10W-30 is wise and change should be at 5000 kms

I am trying to get rid of these rims mate, wish me luck

T-4 fluid can be used where WS is pecified, but with much more frequent change intervals. (T-4 is semi-sythentic whereas WS is fully synthetic.)

Mobil 1 Type 3309 ATF is the same as T-4 also ifit can be found in Pakistan.

Yes it is, i beleive the hoses to the radiator should be undone and needs to be extended at a level below the bottom end of Transmission, that might throw whole oil out

Sir I own a Mark X as well and type 4 gear oil is not recommended for Mark X at all. The only oil you should use is WS. It is always available at Toyota Islamabad

Infact I was reading at a forum and the use of type 4 can ruin your gearbox. I would recommend to immediatly flush your gearbox and get WS

For differential always use liqui Moli

Engine oil I personally use Mobil One only and change it after every 5000 KM
