Marussia, Russia’s first street legal production sports car, is unveiled in Moscow. The safe and innovative Marussia can hug the road.Marussia can reach a top speed of 320 kph (200 mph). The car features state-of-the-art electronics, including several video cameras for various purposes. Customers can choose between optional exterior designs all based on a standard chassis.
Russian musician, comic actor and auto racer Nikolai Fomenko, who conceived the project, told a press conference that the current global financial crisis facilitated an innovative auto business. “Russia is a wonderful test site for launching innovative projects,” Fomenko said.
By mid-2009, a limited production run of sedans, Gran Turismos (GTs) and crossover versions will be launched.
Vehicle component content is 65% foreign, 35% Russian. The 950kg car has a 240hp engine and accelerates to 100 kph in just 4.2 seconds.
