The car is honda city, 2012. Two things were done which resulted in massive fluctuations in fuel average.
1. Spark plugs were bad, so got new one. Original NGK Iridium plugs, as per user manual, original cross verified.
2. Throttle body service along with idle relearn by instrument.
I have been using this car for 3 yrs and it hasn't behaved like this before. I used to get on board fuel avg of 15+. This figure hardly got below 14.5 even with AC. Apart from these two things, nothing has changed. my route where I go, 30km daily, is a mix of highway and streets. I never go above 90km/h. Driving style is same. But on board reading goes like this
In traffic and lower gears, on board value lies 12/13 and as soon as I get on a highway, it suddenly jumps from 13 to 16 in a matter of 3/4 kms. I don't know if it is normal or not but this never happened before. I suspect something is wrong. Fuel avg does increase in higher gear and in highway, but it increases so suddenly, I Haven't seen before. Please guide me if I am wrong.
Note: after changing the plugs and throttle cleaning, I have driven for more than 1500kms.
