Dear Members,

Can anyone recomend a college/university for MBA executive weekend program in Lahore except LUMS & LSE?

I have heard following colleges which are offering MBA Executive programs with weekend classes but dont know their reputation.

Imperial College of Business Studies
Hajvery University.

If anyone can share his experience and recomend a college/universityi will be grateful.

MBA and MBA executive hold same value. If anything MBA executive is more preferable as the person is working, so he/she has work experience.

brother YARIS.10 I dont know about hajveri. But NEVER go for Imperial college's executive program. Study wise they are good and have a very good reputation in the market. If you were looking for regular MBA i would have actually recommended Imperial College to you. But the problem with their executive program is timings. They dont have a lot of students doing executive courses and as a result they try to merge regular MBA and executive MBA classes together. Result is that they will offer few classes on weekends and few during the weekdays but in the evenings like 6pm. My own cousin is doing executive MBA from Imperial college. And believe me he is looking to change college just because they have given him 2 classes during weekdays at 6.30 pm. He works in a bank and get off work around 7pm.
On the other hand if you are looking to do regular MBA then I would recommend imperial college to you.

MBA and EMBA are same thing. All universities in pakistan offer same modules for MBA and EMBA students. Kindly check with HEC for your confirmation. You are grossly misguided my friend.

Please check the admission requirements of any good University for its EMBA program and you'll have an idea.

Don't know about others, but HKUST will only accept your application if you have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field with milestones achieved and a very impressive CV. And you must be at an executive position in a good reputable firm.

I read those magic words and I'd like to raise mine. So what after 2 years the normal MBA person will have the experience as well. Now, both Emba and mba person have experience and is working.

Most probably the one with EMBA would have more experience as in good universities they require 5-10 years of experience and expect you to be at a good position. MBA with two years experience would be at a very good position like after 8 more years of working. Mostly working people do EMBA as they feel they need it to grow more in an industry specially on the management branches. They most probably had got hired just after their bachelors and did not get time for a Masters degree. Now after 10 years of job, one can't quit for education. Therefore they do EMBA. I don't know what's the scenario in Pakistan, but EMBA is not meant for fresh or not so old graduates.

For example, if I am an engineer and I have been working in a company for like 10 years. Now there are some executive positions that needs to be filled. I take admission in EMBA and take classes that will not have a clash with my office hours. After completing it, I can go for those top positions unlike my other colleagues.

That's what I think. Different places and institutions have different philosophies and different companies have their own standards to rate a qualification.

That's not the case. Leniency in marking varies from University to University or even Professors to Professors. A complete program can not be considered to have lenient marking.

Ummm... Well yes, according to what you are thinking, I agree to what you've said. But, it depends on an individual's present status/condition as to select the better option that suits him. As the name suggests, EMBA is for executives. They can however do MBA if they want. They'll study the same thing after all. Most probably, the University that is offering MBA classes only on the weekends either would have named the course EMBA or would not be offering EMBA at all. But it is not for fresh graduates or I must say, they should not be given admission in it. To me, the major difference however is just in the name.

My conclusion: If you are inexperienced, go for full MBA as you'll learn more. If you have good experience on your CV, go for EMBA as you really don't have to learn the vary basics.

I must say it is very healthy debate yet i feel to highlight following points.

1. MBA Ex is not a diploma.

2. Any MBA having equal or less then one year duration is considered diploma as previously Preston university was offering MBA Ex of 1 year.

3. MBA Ex is consist of 66-72 credits Hours course.

4. Regular MBA is consist of 88-96 credits hour (for 14 yrs education & 3 and half yr duration) & 66-72 credits hours (for 16 yrs non business education & 2 and half yrs duration) and 33-36 credits hour(for 16 yrs business education & 1 yrs duration)

5. MBA Ex is not equal to Regular MBA simultaneously a senior executive is also not equal to fresh hiring.

6. Indeed MBA Ex is designed for highly experienced executives who are already enjoying good positions. Thats why best universities all over the world is offered MBA Ex programs for senior executives having more than 8 yrs experience.

In the last but not the least, I request you and especially those who have done MBA Ex from LAHORE to kindly share reviews about their MBA Ex colleges/universities.

If a job is offered by Government of Pakistan with criteria as MBA, Is EMBA holder eligible for that job? Does HEC recognize EMBA?

i think not.

HEC recognises EMBA as being equivalent of MBA. Those government jobs that you are talking about also accept EMBA. There is no difference between the two. Both are MBA programs. EMBA is a weekend MBA program and all universities in pakistan offer same course for both. HEC office is open on firdays (today). Those who have doubts can contact them right now and clear their confusions.

I have written in my post clearly.

MBA Ex is not equal to Regular MBA.

HEC recognize EMBA and attest your degree.

Many universities EMBA offers 16-24 courses in EMBA. You can confirm from Hajvery University website,Central Punjab University etc.

GOVT will prefer MBA Regular because both are not equal.
