Mechanic recommendation - Engine overhauling

I need to overhaul engine for my mehran but I'm not particularly satisfied with my current mechanic's expertise in this area, whom would you recommend to get this job done in Karachi.. If you have already got some engine work done from him and satisfied with the work then that'll be great.

I can recommend you to one in fb area. We are knowing him since atleast 20 years when we had an FX. He is master of engine making. A lil expensive though but excellent person.

Can you give me his details please i.e name and contact number. Also, the mehran requiring overhauling is a 1992 model so the investment to be made in this would also be an important deciding factor. My current mechanic had quoted Rs. 25k for the complete job including new clutch and pressure plates, I can call your mechanic and get an estimate first.

Also looking forward for more recommendations.

Since budget is an issue for you, then you should not visit mine then as he works very genuinely and doesnt install any other part other than japanese and simply refuses. Since the car's value itself is low, then its not wise to spend hige amount on it until you plan to keep the car for very very long

Yes it wouldn't be wise to spend above 25k for mehran engine overhauling, especially with this old ride.

Got the car back today, total costs came to about Rs. 34,000 after almost every part replacement. Costs at the high side but work seems reasonable so far.

So I was checking the engine oil level yesterday and it had reduced roughly 0.5 litre in less than 50km.

Took the car to mechanic today and turns out that the engine oil pressure switch had leaked. So got a new one installed, lets see if oil reduction stops or not. It was just lucky that I checked the engine oil level soon enough otherwise a few more kms and the oil would be way below the safe levels..

Oil not reducing after getting the switch changed but water level in radiator reduces 3 cups or so after around 100km.

Bad sign. Go for a radiator change as summers are too bad this year too

Don't think its a radiator issue since same along with the cap has been inspected by multiple mechanics and raised no concerns. Worst possible scenario would be a gasket issue, or it might simply be leaks elsewhere in the cooling system.

I'll need to inspect it a bit more thoroughly to see if there are any leaks, otherwise I just might have to take a trip back to the mechanic who overhauled the engine, head gasket might have to be readjusted to fix the issue in which case it would be best for the car to finish its running first.

Might need to try a number of things, will update on how the issue got resolved when it does.

I was asked by my mechanic to visit after 1000 km running was done, so guess this is when he was planning to retighten the bolts, should I be visiting earlier?
