Mehran Alternator in Honda Civic 1997

Hi Guys,

Last week, I went to my native village. Uncertainly the car alternator stopped working. Directly drove car to mechanic. After lot of search he was not able to find honda alternator, So he set mehran alternator in honda civic 1997 and with extra extension settings for generator and mentioned this will will work perfectly. As the electric requirement will be fulfilled.

Now I am bit curious, shall I replace it with honda's geniune generator? Or I go with it. Right now, I don't see any issues regarding wires, battery etc.

I am asking about this question because mostly I travel other cities. So to avoid again this sort of problem.

Please share your thoughts and also if anyone have any sort of experience I do, Please share.

its half the amperage, the civic alternator is 80 amps, the mehran one is 40.

once the alternator maxes out - the battery starts getting drained, thats why you always up the alternator rather than the battery, you did the other way round.

For your response. So you mean there's no need to replace it? Just for your information, Two days ago I went to battery shop, They checked alternator and battery, Both showing on meter good gauge.

Did they checked with headlights, ac, etc switched on?

What Bhai is saying is, use the proper capacity part for the proper rating. its like dressing a 10 yr old with clothes made for 5 yr old.
