They powered the Alto with 800cc engine here in India. It became the #1 selling car a long ago.

Maruti 800 doesnt find a place in top 10 selling cars and the Nano is supposed to wipe it out on its launch. But still no sign of its (Maruti 800 aka Mehran in Pk) phasing out.

If they cant phase it out here then I dont think they will phase it out in Pakistan where it is still the best seller.

Our Mehran is heaven for most of our people....
but now they will have to think twice about it for buying one....

I think New mehran should be introduced with 600cc engine which must have lower price like Rs. 250,000 or so.

Fuel prices are already heating up here!
Be it Petrol or even CNG

Gharib ka bhi to kuch sochna chahiye....

Alto thousand should be converted to Alto 800 with price like Rs. 350,000 to Rs. 420,000- AC/CNG versions,
& 1000cc car should be the new Suzuki Swift...
Liana is ok....

In Indian Maruti 800, there are Halogen Head Lamps,
Front & Rear Seat belts,
High mount rear stop lamp,
Sun visors on both sides, etc..

All this
at like Pak. Rs.320,000/-

But here its much higher in price but less in accessories....

Why is that?

And I am unable to understand that why dont they introduce cars like SX4 & New Swift from suzuki.....

Good question.

But then all compnies do the same. Other brands price their cars much higher in India then in US or europe and with much lower quality and features.

We expect a sharp cut in Maruti 800 price on the launch of Nano. Thats the only way they can compete the TATA NANO.

The problem is that the auto industry in Pakistan is still not matured. If paksuzuki is not able to source the EFI engine parts from local market, from where will they source the componenents fro Swift and & SX4.

If imported they wil be too expensive. The SX4 costs around INR 7lacs in India, add import duties, transpotation and other expences and then convert it to PKR and you have a car in Corolla territory.

Will any one buy it aginst the corolla????????????
