h1Mercedes SLS to cost £155k/h1
Mercedes has confirmed its SLS supercar will carry a price tag in the region of £155,000 when it goes on sale next year. That makes it significantly cheaper than its most obvious rival, the £193k Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.
The Mercedes SLS - a product of the Mercedes AMG performance division - pays homage to the legendary 300SL with its gullwing doors. Under the bonnet sits a 563bhp 6.2-litre V8 engine, making the thoroughbred supercar capable of 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of around 196mph.
Roadster and petrol electric hybrid versions of the car are expected in years to come. The finished model will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motorshow in September.
