Am trying to convert the 5X112 PCD configuration on the Mercedes over to a 5X114.3 configuration.

One way of going through this would be to get PCD Adapters - any available in Lahore? Pros and Cons of using these adapters?

Should a permanent change be required, is it possible to change the hub entirely and replace with a 114.3 hub?

make sure you get proper balanced adapters. MB wheels are hub centric - meaning the lug bolts just keep the wheel bolted the snout actually centers the wheel on the hub. One slight misbalance and you will have a 3 wheeled car on the street.

@xulfiqar: did some reading on what you said. i guess the adapters would be risky especially as far as installation would go in our part of the world.

whats your take on wobble nuts? safe to use? any detrimental side effects on suspension?

as long as they can keep the wheel in intimate contact to the hub you are good. The wheel should also hang on the snout of the hub and not be "a bit loose"

that "a bit loose" makes the car into a tricycle on the road - while you hear some nice metal scraping sounds.

^ are we talking about the wobble nuts or the adapter here?

forgive me but all learning happening here is via the messages you post, self observations on the jacked up car and google. you've lost me on the snout - what exactly would that be?

as far as the hub is concerned, is this the round plate on which the 5 bolts screw on?

while we're on that could you also please reiterate the 'intimate contact to the hub' as well?

again i'm sorry for the noobish question as i am learning this on my own here - apparently the terms used by the local 'ustaads' here is just plain old greek!

12 - brake disc
14 - wheel hub
15 - snout (diameter of which apparently is 60.6mm on the W123 correct?)

I know someone is Pindi who can do such work. Tried and tested. No such experience in lahore.

On the W123 and W126 the disc is behind the hub, the disc is installed from the back, anyway what I mean is that the wheel centre hole is in direct fit contact with the snout of the hub aka bearing hole with cap. The bolts then keep the wheel flat on the hub.

The later W124 has a more normal type system with the disc on top of the hub but the wheel fitment is the same in MB since the beginning of the 5 bolt MB wheel.

there are no hubs available for MB that will apply that - unless you make your own hubs from scratch
