you have a 250D - the E300D of 1995 will always be 6 cyl 24 Valve engine.
If you are facing issues of the engine suddenly dying at high rpm you have have to first ensure the engine exhaust can get out - there is a cat converter in this car that can block, specially if you drive very gently all the time. Make sure its free to flow. Always do a full rpm run now and then to keep the engine and exhaust clean. Dont worry about wear and tear - the engine is oversquare in design and is built to work on high rpm.
secondly your car has 2 main fuel filters on the engine, one is a big round one - its the secondary filter - replace that, the primary filter is about 3 inches to its side and is mounted inside the filter mount bracket. Remove the 10mm head bolt, pop the fuel line and lift out the filter - that is the primary filter. When installing back make sure its large O ring is not flat or damaged. There are also about 10 O rings in the assorted plastic fuel lines which will require replacement. The plastic lines themselves require replacement after every 5 years to ensure a good tight fuel system.
There is a third filter in the car which is mounted in the fuel tank, its removed from under the car with a 46mm socket. It also gets clogged and is often neglected.
heres the one from my car - it was original and never removed.

clean it with soap and hot water, install with new O ring. If yours is damaged then make sure you get the one that says DIESEL, the petrol version is very fine mesh and will choke.
