well. there is a roll over protection.. which means if the car or SUV roll over, the roof or side pillars will not crumple , providing extra safety in case of car roll over. Mercedes never said it will not Roll over, Nor they will say it like that.
As per Mercedes
"Based on state of the art radar and sensor technology, Mercedes driver assistance systems have been developed to reduce the overall number of accidents. The antilock braking system comes standard, and ensures that the driver still has control of the steering, even when braking. The Electronic Stability Control system is also standard, and reduces the risk of skidding and instability. Brake Assist helps in the event of an emergency stop, providing the driver with immediate and full braking power.Other features include Adaptive Highbeam Assist, which adjusts the range of headlamps to cope with oncoming vehicles, and Adaptive brake lights that flash and warn drivers behind you if your braking indicates an emergency. Mercedes? Intelligent Light System uses five light functions that are configured to deal with typical driving situations and weather conditions.
Distronic Plus uses radar to assist the driver in maintaining a safe distance between the vehicle and the one n front of it. If the gap begins to narrow rapidly, the driver is warned. Brake Assist PLUS is part of Distronic PLUS, and it also uses radar sensors, in order to detect an imminent head to tail collision in time to press the brake pedal.
All of this is designed to prevent an accident from happening, to promote occupant protection. Another preventive feature is AIRCAP automatic draught-stop, which detects the risk of rollover. If a rollover seems eminent, AIRCAP is retracted, as a precaution. Crash-responsive head restraints for the driver and front passenger are part of the impressive array of safety features.
Roll over protection in Mercedes consists of two bars thirty-five millimeters in diameter, housed in the rear head restraints behind the rear seat backrests. If sensors in the airbag control unit indicate imminent danger to occupants, pre-tensioned pressure springs are activated rapidly, by pyrotechnic means. This extends the rollover bars, which reach the highest point and are automatically locked, in less than one second. These work in conjunction with robust A-pillars reinforced with two high-strength steel tubes, and provide extremely effective rollover protection.
To prove it, Mercedes has tested in many times. Having conducted systematic safety testing since the fifties, Mercedes still rigorously tests each vehicle, exceeding industry standards, because of their commitment to ?Real Life Safety?. One of the most demanding crash tests is the roof-drop test, which determines the car?s rollover protection"
