THE LAST 126 MODEL WITH A 2800 CC ENGINE WAS PRODUCED UPTIL MID 1985 AND THE LATER VERSION THE 140 SERIES IN 1992 SO CHECK YOUR SOURCE AND LET ME KNOW........................

A 280 S OR 280 SE OR A 280 SEL IF IT WERE A 126 TYPE BODY BUT THE 140 TYPE WAS CALLED S 280....I´M NOT SURE YOU´VE GOT IT IN THE STATES. NOT ALL MODELS ARE MARKETED BY THE SAME NAME IN THE US.

YES THATS POSSIBLE A 560 SEL 1989 BUT NOT A 280 SEL 1990

GOT TO BE UPTIL 1985 MODEL...STOPPED PRODUCTION THE ENGINE WAS A 110 TYPE AND ALSO USED IN THE G CLASS BUT NOT THE S CLASS AFTER 1985. IT WAS A SIX IN LINE TWIN CAM ENGINE WITH 185 HP.

ranasrana is right the 280 was produced from 80-85. So its either a 260 or a bigger engine, or you're getting tricked into buying an older model. And are you sure the 60000 mileage is genuine, as they can be tampered with easily. You can judge by looking at the condition of the interior, the chrome on the bumpers etc.
The price also depends on the options like climate control, electric seats, leather seats etc. So cant tell for sure without that information.

i'd advise you to look for a a W126 with at least a 300 (260's & 280's in those cars are lethatgic), and if you are going to spend the money make sure you get the SEL and not the SE (approx. 6 inches longer)

@Storm...can you give me any idea about the price of the following 2 cars ...

1. Merc 1985 280S ( Black )
2. Merc 1988 280SEL ( Navy )

both are in good condition....the 280S is on CNG

There you go again ..there was and never is a 280 sel 1988 ....nothing of the sort...only upto 1985.......

this is 1992 400 SE with 104,000 miles just got ready at my shop asking price 7500.car has a salvage title.looks and drive like new.
