Another automaker is making its way to Pakistan, Morris Garage which is known as MG.
MG is a British Automotive marque founded by Cecil Kimber in the 1920s, and M.G. Car Company Limited was the British sports car manufacturer that made the marque famous. Best known for its 'midget' open two-seater sports cars, MG also produced saloons and coupes with engines up to three litres in size. The marque is now owned by Chinese automotive giant SAIC motor company.
On 25th May 2020 CEO Haier & owner Peshawar Zalmi teased with a brochure of MG's all electric crossover ZS EV later on yesterday Afridi shared complete brochure of cars and today in his tweet he welcomed MG in Pakistan with a picture of him with the MG ZS.
He also tweeted that the car is already on road test.
The MG ZS is a subcompact crossover SUV & is the second SUV to be produced by MG Motor, the first being the larger MG GS, which was launched in April 2015. The MG ZS notably revives the name previously used on the saloon of the MG ZS, which was based on the Rover 45, and was produced by MG Motor's predecessors MG Rover from 2001 to 2005.
The ZS has two petrol engine options, an updated SMTC developed version of the naturally aspirated 1.5 L as found in the MG3, known in this guise as the NSE Plus (formerly just NSE) the updated engine is tuned differently in each market based on locally applicable emission regulations.
The MG ZS EV or EZS is the electric version of the MG ZS which is expected to launch in Pakistan. The MG EZS was introduced in 2019 in China, featuring an E-CVT transmission, 44.5 kWh battery, and a front positioned motor producing 110 kW and 350 Nm to the front wheels.
MG ZS EV or EZS is already selling in United Kingdom, Thailand, India, Australia, New Zealand and soon will be on sale in Pakistan.
The car is expected to be available in two variants with the price ranging from 40-45 lacs.
