I think they're going to pull a Nishat and once the 100 subsidized cars are delivered, announce that the 5.5mn introductory price is over, new price is 7mn and all existing orders should pay the difference or withdraw their order.

Sounds stupid, yes, but losing 500 million for nothing sounds even more stupid.

I think this is exactly going to happen. They created hype, took bookings and at time of delivery, ask for 7 Million and convert the intentionally planned losses into profits by intentionally keeping the price lower for attraction.

Keep in mind that even 1000 units import is not a joke. It can take easily a year to deliver.

I think MG just wanted to remain relevant in the market before the local assembly which is still months away if we agree and believe that something is happening on ground as far as plant infrastructure. There were many buyers skeptical about Sportage while Tucson , we already know . Also arrival of X70 also kept many people confused about their buying decision and then Corolla Cross until now also kept some buyers away from buying. MG did create a marketing hype and I am sure converted many buyers.

Kia Sportage 4.5 - 5.5 Million
Hyundai Tucson 5 - 5.5 Million
MG 5 - 5.5 million
DFSK Glory 3.8 - 4.4 Million
Proton X70 approx 5 million
Toyota Cross 7.5 - 8 million

Sportage has an advantage of being introduced in 2019 and has made a market for itself, in addition is being locally assembled along with a large number of 3S network across the country.

All others are still CBUs and will have to really struggle to compete in the local market.

It will get interesting in 2021 and the picture will be more clear in 2022.

They are only making forland, FOTON under Daimler AG is with master group. They might be forging the name under JWFOTON.

Similarly Hyundai cars is with Nishat, Hyundai Trucks is with ALHAJ.

Hyundai tucson is a CKD, they never sold a CBU unit, they were all kept by the company.
DFSK Glory, is also a CKD unit now, they've long exhausted their CBU quantity

JWForland is joint venture with foton. Foton it seems is working with both master group and jw.. As per their websites, master is just selling one model from foton while jw has large range of products under the "Forland" brand.

Sir these automakers have started doing the same thing that real estate developers have been doing since forever - using customer money to build stuff instead of putting up their own capital. They will take in the money from the bookings and use it to setup the assembly line and bring ckd kits from china.
Just like honda took money for the BRV long before there was any unit on display.
Yahan at least they have some units lol.. But daraz wala scene na hojae .. order kuch kiya (CBU) mila (barebones CKD)

The actual taxes are gonna be even more than that.
There are a ton of other hidden taxes apart from custom duty. Maybe not all are applicable in this case but some definitely will be. Additional custom duty, regulatory duty federal excise duty, sales tax, advance income tax, withholding tax and the list goes on. Anybody who has tried clearing anything through customs will tell you about the never-ending list of taxes.

In short even 0.5 billion is a conservative figure.

I think i agree with the post above. I think they are trying to raise capital for some kind of local assembly setup.
Theres no way theyre gonna pay from their own pocket and deliver CBUs to all these people. And local assembly cant possibly be that quick. I think we’ll be seeing some drama in the days to come.

So essentially its a crowd-funding model similar to Kickstarter, Indiegogo etc, with even less transparency about how they’ll use the funds and the kind of product they’ll deliver.
And while most Kickstarter projects will promise you something like a fidget spinner for a few dollars, Afridi sahab is trying to sell you a car for 5.5 million.

Yes 100% confirmed. 95 Octane minimum

No point buying it then. I hated filling high octane in my Audi A4 because of unavailability issues.
