Michelin Primacy 4 Ownership

Hello PW brother!

I'm planning to get new tires for my Civic 2014. I just bought this vehicle a month back and it currently has Dunlop installed, which I'm not satisfied with. The car doesn't feel stable at high speed and has lots of road noise in the cabin.

I did some research and concluded that Yokohama BluEarth ES32/AE50 should be the preferred choice. It provides good amount of traction, excellent grip and low road noise. I contacted TyrePoint (https://tyrepoint.pk/) and they seem to have imported japanese Yokohama tires unlike the smuggled ones being sold out in the market. They quoted me 13,200/tyre.

I want to have second opinion from my fellow brothers here. Is this Yokohama BluEarth series good enough for civic stiff suspension? Is this TyrePoint authentic store for putting my money on "imported" tyres?

tyrepoint is fine to buy from, their prices are a bit on high side. You can also contact sheikh brothers as they are importers of yoko in Pakistan. They can refer you to their authorized dealers, call them and get price quote and buy from where ever you are getting good price.

Secondly yokos are very soft so apart from the plus points you shared, there are some negative aspects too like highly prone to punctures, tread doesn't last as long so it depends on your drive. I would suggest to consider michlein tyres too, the price difference is not much around 2k more per tyre.

Brother its not that soft people have advan db series in their mind but its totally different no doubt a good tyre but not in term of softness in this series company focus was not on softness but on durability reliability because in advan db series tyre was so soft that some people became regular customer of puncture shops
U can check continental and michelin if your pocket allows or if u are in karachi i can provide u a number has purchased 7 to 8 tyre sets from him for my personal cars and realatives cars no complain of any smuggle thing
And the same ashraf ul makhlokat are also running tyre point and importing as same way as others so please dont judge by big shop and big brand name no one knows whats behind the curtain
Yokohamas official dealer are shaikh brothers do search them if u want to go for yokos

Thanks for the response brother. I'll contact Sheikh Brothers to get good deals. I was talking to another guy in the market today and he recommended me Michelin Energy XM2+ over Yokohama BluEarth. The price difference is nominal but Michelin comes on top between these two. I'm from Karachi, do you know any authentic seller of Michelin here?

You're right brother. The BluEarth series is better than its predecessor Adan DB which had rather soft tyres in comparison. Yeah, please do forward the number of the seller, I'm from Karachi.

Yes Michelin is the best. I recently bought XM2+ 42week2020 thailand made for 15k per tyre from an official dealer in RWP. My old michelin tyres were also adjusted for good rate.

My guess is you should be able to get it for 14.5-15k. Call the official dealers or better yet go to them and break a deal.

Also when buying new tyres, do ask them if price include nozzles and fitting etc. Try to get nozzles, fitting and balancing in same price (weight charges you will have to pay)

The official importer for Michelin is Zafar enterprise, follow link below to find authorized dealers. Price difference is usually 500-1000 so bargain with all of em and see which one gives you the cheapest. Take note they might also have smuggled tyres so go only for imported ones.

Thanks for the details and good to know you're already using Michelin, that should help me decide better. How's the performance of your tyres especially in terms of road grip, noise and braking at high speeds? I'm less concerned about its longevity and more about performance.

I am using Michelin since early 2017 so recently i bought new ones as previous ones were 4 years old. Road grip noise and braking is great, i travel on motorway every month and never had any problems. Kindly note that Michelin are not as soft as advan db or continental but even if you are not concerned of longevity, having a too soft tyres for our roads is not a great idea either. My friend bought new advan db for his corolla in 2018 and within 2 years there were tons of punctures. He lives in Lahore and hometown is attock so his usage was not harsh either.
Rest you can search threads over pakwheels, there are many people using different tyres so you can read their posts and see what suits you best.

What ever brand you go for, always find the official importer and from there find the authorized sellers. Tyre point also imports on their own but their prices are always higher so first go for official importers channel. Stay away from smuggled tyres at all cost, the price difference is 1-2k which is not worth the risk.

Yeah, Advan DB is very soft; however, same is not true for BluEarth series as this is better than its predecessor in terms of softness and overall performance. Do you know if it's mandatory to have the new tyres aligned and balanced right after installation? What if I don't do that? Because I heard that most of their machines need calibration themselves and they further ruin your vehicle stability.

i have no experience with bluearth so you can search this forum and decide accordingly.

They only do balancing and since you are paying for weights then you can get it done from place of your choice. Yes balancing is must for new tyres, alignment not so much.

BlueEarth is below Advan DB comparison wise. Both are currently being manufactured and are good tyres. Latest iteration of Advan DB is V552.

Thanks much everyone for your timely responses. I've purchased Michelin Primacy 4 from one of the authorized dealers in Karachi for 16,000/tyre.

I must say the first thing I noticed is the quietness of the tyres, though it's too early to say anything but my initial impressions are good. The road grip is way better than my old tyres.

I'm gonna keep this thread updated (and probably update the title) as I spin those wheels on the road.

Which dealer exactly? Did he not mention you that primacy 4 is not officially imported tyre? why did you not go for XM2?
Anyway whats the date and country of manufacture

Dealer name is Hassan Tyres, I got their number from Zafar Enterprises as the number mentioned on the site isn't correct. The tyre is made in Italy and the manufacturing label is 2820. The tyres come in 1 year warranty and upon inquiring he did mention that we have all the custom invoices and receipts you can check yourself. I also scanned one of the barcode of the tyres and it took me to the official page with the tyre specifications.

The reason of choosing Primacy 4 is its superiority to XM2 and it being the latest offering from Michelin.

Brother it's located in Furqania Complex, new MA Jinnah Road. Dealing person is Mr. Baqar 03323512397, I found him very calm and cooperative, I accidentally got short of cash and he said, don't worry take the tyres and pay me later at your convenience. I got the tyres on partial payment and completed the remainder on the next day.

BENEFITS OF NITROGEN GAS

Always get your tires filled with Nitrogen gas instead of regular compressed air. It has several advantages over the conventional air, some of them include:

1. Helps keep the tyre running temperature low
2. Increases tyre life - operating temperature plays a vital part here
3. Maintains tyre pressure for a longer duration - due to its chemical structure
4. Doesn't react with the metal rim or tyre material

Primacy 4 is good tyre but is NOT imported by Zafar enterprises, so it may be a self import like tyrepoint does or its a smuggled tyre. Regarding superiority, its same as XM2 not too much difference
