You must be watching the trailer or may have seen news about Microsoft launching a new version of of its popular flight simulator after a gap of almost 13 years.

So he is excited and looking forward to grab it first?

You may consider digital combat simulator by ED. It's the most realistic simulator I have ever come across. Try it and you will not regret

Great! I started with FS9 and then FSX. Learning to become a pilot (hobbyist kinda) is one of my near-retirement goals

Try kerbal space program as well, it is also very interesting game with real physics.

Installed steam, created an account, bought and downloaded MS FS X with installed size of 22GB. But i am not at all impressed with the graphics.
I already had this flight sim on DVDs bought back in early 2000 but it was cracked and wouldn't accept patches / updates. I thought this steam version may be a good chance but throwing out $2 is not a waste especially when I have spent over $150 on DCS. Waiting for FS2020

Two dollars are nothing to have a legal copy. My download was 45-50 GBs though.

Am I missing something here...just rechecked and the installed file is 24GB, still less than half of what you claim ??

Well Steam dashboard says my installation is 16 GB. While downloading it said it is about 45 to 55 GB. Now I also see X Plane in the library, now I cannot find those details.

While installing it detected the existing install and asked me to back it up because it will overwrite files and it did deleted all logs, settings and flights I saved. I played both version and saw smoother graphics in Steam. nay be DVD had lesser features.
