Milage Toyota Vitz

I purchased a Toyota Vitz 2014 model (design 2015) in July 2018 at that time used 22,000km.
Being a 1000cc car I was under the impression that I will get a good mileage. The highest it ever reached was 9.0 km / lit. Average between 8.5 to 8.8 km. Last one week I drove short drives in heavy traffic areas . The mileage was 7.7 km. I even checked on long drives on free roads. Maximum was 9.0 km. Can anyone advise if this is the normal mileage of Vitz , some problem with my car, or my way of driving ?

Can you tell me what is your method to calculate the average fuel consumption like how much distance it covers in certain litres of fuel?

I am not using any calculation method. The analogue Speedometer has got digital display option of Trip A & B and on few clicks it gives the consumption in km/liter. The figures I have mentioned are from this display only. Please advise.

this is very low millage ....1 of my friend and customer owns a 2013 vitz ..1000cc it is currently giving 14 to 15 staying in eco ideal range .......on the speedometer.....in your case something is wrong ..check spark plugs or check if you have a block catalytic converter

get is diagnosed ....a bad fuel filter or choked CAT or bad spark plugs result in bad fuel economy ....

Thanks for the kind advice. I will get it checked from my regular w'shop. Can you advise a w'shop or technician who really specialize in such issues

did u reset ur Trips ?

Spider Shape Vitz shud get 15 +/- fuel economy in city normal driving.

accidental cars usually get lesser mileage due to so mechanical issues that they might have.

where are you from ? take the vehicle on highway and drive the speed upto 70Km'H then release the throttle pedal and gently press it so only you can maintain your current speed then reset the trip meter eco meter and drive steadily for 20 to 30 km's you will stabilize the onboard eco meter.

remember accelerate gently if you loose the speed else you will not be able to reach peak economy of onboard ecu monitor good luck.
