MINI Engine Swap, advice needed!

Salam,

I have recently restored a Mini 1964 to its original specs. Original engine and original interior. Attaching a few pictures. Have tried to bring it as close to its original self as I could.

Have another Mini Shell lying with me, sadly its just a shell with no engine, question is which engine should I go for? I don't want to go for the 660 engines as they lack power and frankly I think Mini should have a minimum of 1000 litres in the hood. Also looking for the minimum amount of alterations. Have seen Minis with Vtec engines but sadly they require a lot of mods, which I don't think can be done here with precision. Looking forward to your advices.

probably not relevant to your interests, but I would go for a hayabusa engine in it. Not sure how much modifications you need to do for it though.

Performance wise its unreal! but the thing is that the Busa engine is chain driven. You can buy modification kits in the US which makes it a childs play to install it. Problem is getting the kit to Pakistan and finding a busa engine.

you can get the hayabusa engine for around 2k US$ w/o duty. But im sure its gonna be hard to get all the stuff here

It would make sense to send the shell to needy friends in Karachi...
Buddy you need a 1.3, not higher than that and not lower than that, nice and manageable and very quick for that tiny 680kg body. Also I would recommend a simple set up, carby engine ideally, unless you get a Busa engine and kit which would just be the dogs bollocks consider something simpler and the torque and braking of which can be managed easily.
I have seen a d15b and lots of money spent on it yet the damn thing still never ran properly, the engine bay was so tight that you couldn't get a hand in there without opening 20 things up, and then the weight just threw the geometry out to the dogs. Eventually the guy just put a Suzuki M13 in there.
So to sum up:

Close weight to the A series 1275 i4

The Toyota 2E 12Valve carby, beautiful engine. Comes in the 88 Corolla , if it can easily pull that then mini is nothing for that . I personally had that engine for 2 years in my 88, It would do 170km/h with AC and 5 guys in the car and still give great mileage .Runs like a charm, economical easy to maintain and light.

Engine size does matter

i have seen two mini's with 4efe swapped in the auto show 2013 but the enguine room was messed up radiator was placed pathetically throttle body was touching firewall

one of my neighbor changed his mini pajero engine which cost him 45K what he told me. Mashallah lovely and my favorite Bean car. Well maintained.
